Summer Camp/ BM agreed to something!
I have been lobbying to get my SS11 to go to the Summer camp I went to as a kid and I did all the research and we qualify for a 50% scholarship, so that means out of the 400.00 it costs for one week, we will only have to pay 100 and Bm 100. She's in the doghouse with H at the moment so I think she would probably agree if H wanted to shave their head and make them wear dresses, lol! Well, so H talked to her today about the summer plans for the skids and after they hammered that out, H brought up the camp and she agreed! Yay! I can't believe my step-son is going to go the same same camp I did!! He is going to have the time of his life and hopefully it will be life changing as it was for me. At this camp they don't allow the kids to have any technology with them (no cells, no iPods, no radios, nothing) They get them up really early and keep them crazy busy all day and then got to bed fairly late (around 10pm) Instead of spending the summer with his bum parked on our couch playing endless video games and whining about not know what to do with hims free time, he will be out making friends and trying all kinds of fun, exciting and new things!! He is going to get to ride horses, go bmx biking, try archery, swim in the lake, windsurf, go sailing, play capture the flag, go on an excursion to the Oregon Caves, do gymnastics and art, take pictures, play basketball and softball, wake boarding, do art, co canoeing and so much more. It is rated in the top ten of best overnight summer camps in the US according to Newsweek Mag. They have lots of music, great food, campfires, plays performed by the camp counselors, a little shop where they can buy t-shirts and sweaters etc...
Anyway, I was sure BM was going to say no (which would only mean that we would take him during one of our two summer vacation weeks that both BM and H have) and I think the reason why is because SS11 is so excited about it and she doesn't want him to see her as the bad guy. We told him that we were fine with him going, but that we had to ask with his mom first, so he knew that it was tentative and not for sure, but after BM talked to a very excited, bouncing off the walls SS11, she gave in and said it was okay with her. Yay! He is going to have to much fun and I really think it will be great for him socially, to make new friends and have role models of really nice guys and girls as counselors who are wonderful with kids and obviously love them.
Anyway, I guess this is pretty off-topic, but I'm excited for SS11 and H and I are currently planning on taking SS5 on a special camping trip at Wallawa Lake while his big bro is at camp. We are letting him invite one friend to come with us and we'll make it lots of fun with a big campfire, hot dogs and smores. Anyway, just thought I'd post a happy post for once! He he!
