The cops were called.

SD11 took her meltdown to the extreme yesterday. She came home and DH told her to go do her homework. She went into her room. She came out and asked for some help. DH goes in there and shows her how to do a couple of them. He tells her to try and do a few on her own. She starts screaming that she doesn't know how. So he sits back down and works with her. They finish the ones due for today and DH tells her to do the other ones on the page b/c she needs the practice. She starts screaming that she isn't allowed to do extra problems or her math teacher will fail her (yeah, right). And that she isn't going to do them. DH tells her that she needs to do them anyways and starts to walk out of the room. She picks up her math book and throws it at him, screaming, you never listen to me. DH told her to go to bed. She started yelling profanity and calling him names. He told her to go to bed now and starts to walk away. She grabbed his arm, so he pulled away from her. She grabbed him again, this time with her fingernails. She dug them into his arm and left a big scratch up his arm.

He turned around and pushed her off him and started to leave the room. She kicked the bedroom wall as hard as she could and was throwing stuff. At this point, I have had enough so I called the police. She was yelling threats and destroying the bedroom. They came in and restrained her. The police officer sat in front of her and told her that if she pulls this again, he will take her to juvie. Then he turns to DH and asks, "Why did you let her get away with this?" DH explained that he doesn't want child abuse charges filed. To which the cop tells him that is an excuse. He turns to SD11 and says, "Your dad is allowed to whip your butt if you misbehave. He should have done it already. That is not child abuse."

She tried to argue with the police officer, but he shut her down. He told her that he wasn't playing. She would go to juvie the next time she assaults one of us. He then gave me his direct number and told me to call if there is another episode.

She toed the line all last night and this morning. We will see if it continues.

Good Lord, what a brat!

I hope your DH will tow the line as well and stop letting her get away with this crap.

Too bad it had to get to that point. Dad could have probably put a stop to it long before she grew her balls big enough to GET to this point.

He's only had custody of her for a three months. And according to SD9, these fits were common at her mom's house. She just gave in and let SD11 do whatever she wants.

YAY!!!!! This is sorely needed with most of these "precious" CODs. To know WHO is in charge! Namely parental units and adults NOT kids!!!!

And a lesson learned for DH!!!!

We took her to the hospital to see about inpatient. They said she doesn't qualify for inpatient treatment.

In the old days, we called this a "tem-per tan-trum" and would give the kid a swift swat to cure it.

No, this has been going on every night for the past couple of weeks. The ideas from the counselor are not working. And honestly, she went so crazy last night that she scared me.

IMHO Today's "counseling" does no good for the most part. Kids need to be told who is in charge and understand that clearly. Something that is sadly lacking in modern parenting. Chef's kids have been in "counseling" since day one of the split.

That's 11 years folks. They're still as obnoxious as they were from eleven years ago with bad behaviour and failing grades every.single.year. It all comes down to proper and rigorous, consistent PaReNtInG which is usually waaaaaaaaaaaayyyyy too much work for the average modern, enmeshed "cool" BFFer "parent."

Yes! Parents are so damn afraid to smack a kid for being a brat that it escalates!

I clearly remember the ONE time my mother smacked me. Only took one time and I knew she would do it! After that a look was all she needed to keep me in line. Kids nowadays just pull the "I'll call child services on you if you hit me!" I had a friend tell me her kid pulled that. I said, "Then you tell him GOOD! Call them, they can take you and put you in a foster home!" She was horrified. Guess what? She finally did it and it worked!

I would have gotten a large cup and filled it with cold water. Walked into her room and dashed it in her face and told her to get a grip NOW or the belt was coming. Then let the cop have at her for a bit. This is insanity. I would have gotten her attention one way or another. IT IS CRAZY FOR AN ADULT TO LIVE IN FEAR OF A CHILD!! My Gawd, what a bunch of wusses parents have become.

No wonder we have cops taking down kids at school that are defiant. Then the cop gets FIRED after being hit by said kid. The damn inmates are running the prison.

I like the water idea above - probably something I would have done with my kids.

Your SD is a brat and I hope she listened to that officer.

I KNOW that if there is a next time, you will call that officer Smile

Here's hoping your husband finds his parenting balls soon!!!

VINEGAR! throw vinegar on her and say her attitude stinks even worse than the vinegar.

i'm picking up my spray bottle today! bwahahahaaa

oh, and PS, dh says he cannot WAIT to get to feeling better so he can whoop kaos' ass, and if ANYONE calls DFCS he'll be happy to pack his bags and leave them on the porch.

OP, please keep us posted the next time you call the po po. maybe a spell in juvie might wake her up, since they wont take her inpatient. that poor kid is so messed up.

My BS (15 at the time) decided to take his attitude over the edge. He started cursing at me and slamming things around the house. I warned him three times to walk away and go into his room..he chose not to. After that it escalated into him throwing out an "f"bomb at me. As I started toward him, he decided he better to do this room. TOO LATE. I followed him down into his room and smacked him so hard he fell off his bed. Then I climbed ontop of him and told him if he EVER pulled a stunt like that again I would put my foot up his ass so far he would be choking on rubber. He has never done it again. That was three years ago and he is an amazing son. I would have gladly went to jail to teach my child that he must respect me as a parent.
