Not So Off Topic; Most Nasty Computer Customer Award Goes To. . ..
A CHILD SUPPORT COLLECTOR!!
I do computer work on the side. So I get a call from this guy who supposedly was referred to me. At first I thought he was doing the bidding of some of my more disgruntled and jealous co-workers who want to "trip me up" by trying to prove I'm doing side work on company time (I'm not nor am I that stupid to do so).
This guy tells me he took his laptop to a computer place and they immediately told him his hard drive was bad. The guy owned up to spilling a beverage on his laptop and hosing his keyboard. I told him I'd give him a second opinion.
Confirmed:
The keyboard is bad
There is quite a bit of "junk in the trunk" aka bloatware, cookies, etc. so I removed it
The hard drive is not on it's last legs--it has some life to it nevertheless I always recommend backing up
I told him I could order the keyboard and USUALLY get shipping within 2 business days. I told him I would confirm whether or not I could. I ordered the keyboard and texted him (he is slow to respond to texts and calls) that I could not get 2 day shipping but instead 5-7 business days and that I would charge him a total of $70 for the keyboard install and cleaning.
He texts me last night on some sort of diatribe because he thinks I'm cheating him at $70 for cleanup and a new keyboard installed!!
He's a whimpy little pencil necked, egg headed CS collector. I did NOT tell Chef that he balked nor what he does for a living because Chef would probably break the guy in half.
So I called the guy back and said "here you can have your laptop and use an external keyboard for now until the keyboard comes in"
This guy seems positively bi-polar!! He back pedaled a bit from his earlier shitstorm. I can see he is exactly suited for CS collection and seems to treat everyone as an NCP payOR!!!

Bahaha we can't get the CS collectors to call us back so we can pay through them.
In my opinion unless BM lights a fire under their asses they won't do anything. Sorry you have to deal with one

Update: He's trying to stiff me. Came by my house to pick up his laptop conveniently when I wasn't home and Chef was going in the shower. I told him several times what the bill was and (surprisingly) he didn't have any money on him but took the laptop anyway.
Today he is texting me that he doesn't like the "look" of his desktop. I told him I put it on maximum performance because his hard drive is too full with videos, music etc that he should be backing up anyway and copying off to an external drive (or get a bigger hd).
