Taking things without asking
So I'm pretty sure that I'm not crazy here, but don't you think children and adults, stepkids or other should ask before they go through things in other people's homes and take them? For instance, ask before eating all the Snickers minis or milk, chips, bottled water, crackers, etc. and what do you do when they go through opening cabinets just to see what you have? How bout when they take things from your medicine cabinet without asking or get into your office supplies and take things? Mind you, these are nephews, stepdaughter, some kids of a cousin-- none of whom live in the house. But when they come over they have no problem borrowing a book without asking, taking barrettes to fix their hair or using all my markers and paper -- NEVER ASKING ME IF ITS OKAY! I'm ready to hide the good stuff or lock it up!
SD15 is bad about taking
SD15 is bad about taking liberty with anything that is not locked up on my bedroom. I'm certain if I didn't have a lock on my door, she would help herself to my closet and makeup, too! Drives me crazy!
SD13 helps herself to
SD13 helps herself to anything she fancies in our house too.
Food, my dd's things (in their rooms behind closed doors) my things. She just goes through our stuff when we are out and helps herself.
Food - don't get me started. She cleaned out her room the other day and changed it all around - invited OH and the other kids up for the big reveal (left me out but I thought eff you and went anyway just to annoy her) In the corner were bags with rubbish in them, in one of the bags an empty coke can (OH takes a can of coke to work every day, no-one else in the house is allowed them) OH asks her where it came from.... "Oh, I don't know daddy. I just found it under my bed!" If I have a box of crackers, a packet of chips etc in the pantry for a Saturday night movie night I have to hide it or it's gone, my dd21's unopened Valentines Chocolates - she even helped herself to those (and when the wrappers turned up in HER suitcase Dadddyyyyy said "dd11 must have planted it there to get sd into trouble"
Grrrrrrr - I am a very firm believer in respecting a persons space and possessions.
