Racist step kids anyone?

Spunfun's picture

My girl friends kids talk bad about blacks and Mexicans and they're only 6 and 7. What do I do? Is the stage already set for them?

You may need to look at the source. Who are they with most of the time??

Otherwise, you can simply say it's not nice to single people out because of what they look like on the outside.

I would call them out every time they made a racist remark and put them on the spot. This needs to be nip in the bud now.

I would also seriously address this with your GF now. This isn't ok ever.

Yea, I am going to. Interesting I just read though says kids from families who don't say anything about race at all seem to be at a higher dish if becoming racist because they from opinion a and try to makes sense of differences. It says kids have race associations as early as 3 months. Here the link if anybody wants to check it out.

I had the reverse happen to me. I grew up in a very diverse community and my parents moved to a very vanilla one.

I was shell shocked for at least three years. I could not believe all of the blonde/red hair and blue eyes. I could count on 2 hands how many people were not white in my school. Actually, for the first two year I could count that number on one hand.

This totally reminded me of Westboro Baptist where they start brain washing their kids at a young age in order to continue to breed HATE. She needs to put a stop to it now before they get older.

I had that with my step kids. Homophobic and semi ignorant and as my wife and I are gay I stopped it pretty quick. my house my rules. I also got rid of names like retard because disrespect isn't tolerated in my house. Say what you want out of the house but with me there is no excuse to be rude. (Mine were a little older 9 and 14)
