I tried to make this reality for so many years. It's really like a death, letting go of this. Every day gets easier, though.

When both sides of a kids gene pool can be intelligent and reasonable this can happen. What strikes me most about this video is how unhappy most of the people look.

That is sad.

There are some divorced people that have made things work. Then one of them marries someone who has an issue with joint parties, not having visitation carved in stone, the way they coparent...They push for changes then everyone (SKs, the other parent)starts to dislike/hate them.

Then there are the others such as the OP and myself who had the same expectations as in the video, only to find a lack of acceptance from skids and a DH who was blinded by guilt. It's so much easier to blame the step parent than to face reality. When the boy grows up, I hope he allows the SM to be human.
