Ready for my Freaking Medal NOW!!!
Five years ago, two 13-year old twin step-daughters moved in with me/DH while their mom took off to fulfill her life dream of being a professional psycho.
This weekend, both girls graduate high school. One is a National Merit Scholar. One is a B student. Both accepted at major universities this fall, one with a full ride.
I have endured disrespect, laziness, carelessness, sleeplessness, and hopelessness, and I've nearly walked out about a dozen times. My health and marriage have both weathered heavy storms.
Biomom will show up at graduation, but none of us will have much to say to her. My plan--stand tall and gloat a lot. No credit and/or thanks to YOU, Bee-yotch! That whopping $500 a month in child support didn't even cover the utilities.
Here I stand, on the brink of liberation, giddy with success. Just goes to show you, it IS POSSIBLE to survive this hell!
"fulfill her life dream of
"fulfill her life dream of being a professional psycho"
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAH that made me laugh out loud!
I only have 10 years left. Fingers crossed.
Love it. We have twins, boy
Love it. We have twins, boy and girl, 17, both college kids now and it's been a hell of a ride!! I can identify you, regarding the hell it's been.
We are still not recieving any after six years of having custody of the twins. The only up side of that is that we have nothing to thank her for?
BM never showed for graduations or any of the events in their lives unless she could fleece them out of some cash! It's really sad that these people walk the earth, it hurts the kids and there's a lot of 'mess' to pick up with them regarding BM. I think that's the reason I cut any of them some slack for minor stuff...
Congratulations on raising very well adjusted kids, one hell of an achievment!
For dealing with BM, smile,
For dealing with BM, smile, it confuses the heck outta people
Congratulations! You
Congratulations! You survived taking on 2 SD's during their teen years when their BM abandoned them? I can't imagine a much worse situation to embark upon! But it seems you have done a bang-up job helping prepare those girls for the real world.
So what kind of medal are you getting? A shiny gold necklace, or maybe a silver chain with a nice pendant? You certainly deserve it!
I survived as well (my SS turned 18 last year and is now living with his GF), but it did take some time to repair the damage to my marriage. I hope that while your SD's are in college that you and your DH are able to rekindle that spark. Enjoy your new found freedom!
I wish! I still have 10
I wish! I still have 10 years left on my sentence (until SD turns 18) which feels like an eternity! At least I have the added bonus of the fact that she went to live with BM and I only have to deal with her in small controlled doses, because at this point the sight of her just makes me ill.
Congratulations
