Need help (serious) what does a 6yr old boy play with???

kaffonseca's picture

I'm being dead serious. I love this child and want him to grow up socially normal for his age group. The ONLY toys this kid has (no exaggeration are WWE wrestling figures.) That is what he plays 24/7..he has over 150 wrestlers.

So I went to the store today (a kid's consignment shop) to buy some toys..and I had no idea what to get him. The way he acts he is socially at a playschool age..but that will just promote his "babyish" ways. My friend's son is 6 and he plays with Nintendo DS...etc..now I don't have $$ for that right now..but seriously..I was clueless what to buy him.

I got him a big box of Lego blocks and a 3ft tall Spider puzzle..

What else can I get that is age appropriate?

but he likes geo trax, i buy them for him because i think its good for him to figure out how to put them together effectively so that the train can run. He also has geo air. they have them at target and walmart, also used stuff on ebay.

play with when he was six! LOL! I remember when he was two his favorite thing to play with was eggs. He figured out if you wait until mommys head is turned and grab one or two out of the fridge, then throw them at her, not only is it fun but it makes mommy look really funny. Wink

Your SS must just be in love with WWE. I remember my brother played with NOTHING but star wars crap for some time. Just keep introducing other things to him, eventually the phase will pass.

He has two but has completely NO idea what to do with them...he only begged for them cuz' a kid at school had them.

I want him to play with toys his age..but at the same time he is socially stunted so that is why I'm confused.

Obsessed with WWE is more the word (but I like it too so I can't say too much)lol

My goddaughter who is one also loves wrestling and wrestling figures!

I have a couple of nephews that age and they like to watch tv and ride bikes.
One can only hope!

He has about a million little "guys" that he plays with from Spiderman to skateboarders. He plays with them constantly. He also like to ride his bike and his skate board. We have a WII but he only plays with it every so often, and he has some spiderman video games that plug right into the TV, but again, he doesn't play with them very often. I have a nephew that is 10, he JUST stopped playing with his "guys" this year. I think it is pretty normal for little boys to play with little toys like that. SS LOVES them. He makes them fight and stuff. I don't know. I didn't grow up with brothers at all, but I think it is pretty normal.

My SSons love to play baseball, football and basketball with DH.

They as play with legos, matchbox cars, any type of remote controlled car or boat (we live near a lake and the boats are fun), and laser tag.

They each have a DS. We got them used from the Game Stop. We also get the DS games used from the there too. It's way cheaper, you can buy 2 used games for the same price you'd pay for 1 new game.

That is something I can add to my list. There is nothingw wrong with him playing with his WWE figures..it's just that he is bored with them and those are the ONLY toys he has :(. I told FH we HAVE to start buying him other stuff..the poor kid was actually scrounging at the bottom of his toy box trying to find something else to play with the other day. I think he realizes that there is life outside of his "Baby" world.

I get it now. I misunderstood the root of the question. SS LOVES his remote control monster... he has a little laptop (it is spiderman) he also LOVES to draw pictures of Hulk and Wolverine.. I could hand the kid a pen and a notepad and he would be good for HOURS!

Some kids are into sports, maybe a soccer or basket ball. Or a t-ball set he can do by himself outside. A skateboard. Action figures are normal for boys. Legos are good. I personally like creative toys for kids. Arts and crafts, paints, play dough, etc. Maybe take him to wal-mart and let him pick out a few reasonable things. They even have some like $2 bins of toys.

but only in bed at night when no one can see him, lest he get teased by his sister for playing with dolls. Wink

When he was 6... matchbox cars, star wars swords, balls, frisbee, marbles, playdoh (I HATE playdoh) and any other toy/junk/twig/trash he could think of. He used to have a shoe box full of tissues and rocks that he drew faces on and he would have a circus, pet show, school, etc. all with some rocks and kleenex. He also went through the pokemon, bakugan, card game de jour phase. He never understood the game, he would just make something up and use the cards.

Honestly, at that age, kids should be able to play with anything and use some creativity. It's tough when it's an only child, though. Most "games" are not that much fun by yourself.

what are you referring to? that bike isn't his..it is a friends. He'd kill himself if he tried to ride that. He has never even ridden a REAL two wheel bike yet (his bday is in a month and that is what I'm getting him..a REAL bike)

My son has loved trains since the age of 2 -He's 8 now The Thomas the tank engine dycast ones and now he's moved up to the electric ones found at the hobby store, a little pricey but one or two of the dycast ones [if he likes them] at target won't break you-

Introduce him to his wee wee. Once a dude gets a gander at that thing it's love at first sight and you can't pry them off of it.
