Finally Fed Up

Endora's picture

So-I come home from work last night and DH is sitting on the couch nostrils flared-looking like a bull ready to stampede. Apparently Zippy16.5 FINALLY got under Daddykins skin.

Entitled Zippy has been anticipating a summer of sleeping until 2pm-enjoying a leisurely breakfast on the living room couch(yes-plate fork and knife ON the living room couch) for an hour-then heading downstairs to X/Box and Rock Band 24/7-

DH USED to say -"this is how kids socialize these days-video conferencing X/Box plays"

DH is beginning to see the error of his ways...

When he tried to pry Zippy off the couch to follow up with a few part time job leads(Zippy rushes home from school -heads straight downstairs and puts his gaming conference head phones on and we see him at dinner and hear him go up to bed-EVERYDAY!!)- DH got, from Zippy, defiance, obstinance, rudness, and lies (I was not even there to point them out!)PLUS Zippy has NOT been doing well in school...DH has seen him do dick all re school work these past weeks.

So I come home and DH is beside himself-HE UNPLUGGED ZIPPY!!! :O

Zippy is NOT happy-I wonder how long before DH gives into the batting of Zippy's camel like eyelashes and rubs Zippy's feet while plugging the X-Box back in to avoid the dissaproval of his lazy teenage son?

This is hitting Zippy where it really hurts-Zippy has carved himself quite a life out here and he is not about to give it up without a fight! I just hope DH does not cave.

I am researching teen leadership programs for the summer to at least give Zippy some recreational skills and volunteering experience for his resume (so his resume does not show that he sat around all summer like a bump on a log!) DH wants me to show him my research when I get home-I sent him the web synopsis and DH says "I will mention it to Zippy-but it looks like a good idea" Insert driving me crazy emoticon here....

HA HA!! He should have done that a long time ago but it has to slap DH up side the head to figure it out!! My DH FINALLY agreed to hide the remotes from his 15 1/2 yr old when he was faced with the realization that his lazy son had to repeat a class in 9th grade. The kids get mad but soon realize there are consequences for their laziness and have no choice when the parents finally wise up and pull the plug. Your DH must not give up and be a lazy father too. Who's in control...Dad better be for the sake of his kids future! There's no excuse for lazy behavior if parents allow it to happen with the availability of games & electronics provided by the parents. Get control of the situation now before it's too late. He better stay unplugged until he can show he can get his priorities straight - school, work, then play.

Stupid video games Xbox Wii that's all they wanna do!! But when it comes down to school it is a different ball of wax. Report cards came and guess who failed 3 classes with a 50! Yep the oldest one who called DH that wonderful N word. And no he has not gotten the lacrosse stix. Nor has he been back in our home since that incident last week was it? Don't know don't care we are much happier!

the end results of their pampered pet parenting style. WTF do they expect, when they are the ones who coddled these kids.

Reality check-let you son act like a self absorbed lazy prince-he'll think he's one.

Let your daughter act like an entitled ho-she'll thinks she's one.

Then DD (disneyland dad) or FM (fantasyland mommy) come crying to us, when we've been telling them all along. AAARRRGGHHHH!

They spoiled these kids rotten. My SS's do not do any chores and when you tell them (not ask) to do the dishes they look at me and say "WHo me? Why I gotta do the dishes?" Or "Why I gotta take the trash out?"

WTF???? You must be kidding me! DH is like well I just get tired of waiting for them to do it so I just do it!"

I don't think so! They are beginning not to like me very much! But WHO CARES!!

My DH came home yesterday and drops food on the counter meanwhile cussing about how he has to go pick up 'dumbass'. I of course give him a who are you talking about look and he mentions that right as he was pulling into the driveway, SS17 calls and asks for a ride home. DH says I didn't even know he was out, I thought he was at home (Ding dong -issue #1) so he calls and I told him he needs to call sooner, so now I have to go pick him up (Ding dong - issue #2 if he wasn't supposed to be out in the first place, how about make him figure out how to get his butt home).

Me shocked says... wow, I've never heard you say a cross word to the kid in the five years we've been married and today you call him a dumbass? DH response: Well he pissed me off..

Wow.. can't wait to see what happens when I'm no longer here to run interference. Maybe it won't take too long for him to take his blinders off, maybe there's hope after all.

hits Zippy & Daddykins in the face----jump in the foxhole.

Man/child and dh actually "spoke" about the future. (DH has always been afraid to talk to his kids lest his X get upset with what he says.) Man/child flunked Biology but will be taking it this summer--so at least he will graduate on time without having to attend a continuation school (like his sister did). He said he wanted to get a job---but he said that last summer & went to the arcades instead.

He wants to be a "cop"! My dh told him to go into the AirForce or the Coast Guard where he will get physically trained before he enters a police force.

So at least the "ideas" are there. Slow progress, but progress.
I think Zippy and manchild (17 years old)are about the same age.

Endora's picture

Zippy and your Manchild may be about 6 months apart-but Zippy16.5 is about 12 years old (if that-if you do NOT count on the thumb sucking)in the maturity department!

Man/child only started cutting his own steak 5 years ago. He acts like he is 12.6 (a little older than Zippy).

Hey, I shut my mouth. hear no evil, see no evil, speak no evil
As long as it (poor parenting) doesn't cost me any money, let the kid live with his mommy forever (his X has the older two 23 & 28 living with her). They have designer telephones/handbags/Vegas trips/tanning sessions ETC but cannot afford an apartment.

My bio children BOUGHT a condo together and moved out after graduating from college.

I am not going to involve myself with their problem. Yikes, I've had a lifetime of successful children & then I see what harm can come from inadequate parenting skills. I don't have the energy to get involved----any energy I have left will go directly to ME.

Angel's picture

their marriages have crumbled, their children are no longer the primary focus----they want to pawn their children off on the step parent. So so so sad.

I wanted my children with me EVERY WEEKEND. These people fight to get rid of them----what lovely parenting.

Crayon,
You are right on target."these bioparents are NOT interested in all the hard work and tedium called actual parenting"!
