Party update and Tornados
MSD and SS came to the party. SS was nice, MSD pouted the whole time. She showed up an hour early walked right through the house without saying hello to anyone. Thankfully her husband has manners and said hi to everyone. She put a button on DH that said "My daughter is #1" I guess she forgot it was his birthday not hers. The button got moved during the party because people were trying to read his shirt (it was a special shirt made for his 50th birthday). Of course she didn't like it wasn't front and center anymore.
I had a big number cut out with pictures on it. I made sure everyone was included. Not good enough for MSD she started complaining her wedding pictures weren't on it. DH flat out told her well I never received any of the pictures. She told him well they are on Facebook. I just looked at her and said "well I'm not on your Facebook so I didn't have access". That shut her up pretty quick. No other wedding pictures were on there except mine and Dh's so no idea why she expected her's on there. There were more pics of him with the step kids and grandkids then anyone else so really nothing to complain about.
My daughter was there with her friends who are her bridesmaids so of course there was some wedding talk. Once MSD heard DH is walking my daughter down the aisle along with DD's dad MSD got very mad! She went inside and refused to talk to DD the rest of the party. DH spent most the time outside grilling and hanging out. MSD sat inside and pouted. She complained people were loud, she complained people were drinking, and DH finally told her it was a party and to be sociable. She stayed inside. I stayed outside with our guest. Worked out great!
Later in the evening storms rolled through. Bad storms! Tornado the next town over where my children's grandmother lives. Everyone came in because there was alot of rain and lightening. We turned on the news to make sure the tornados weren't coming near us and DD started calling to check on their family. Thank God everyone was safe! Ex MIL (who is the nicest woman in the world) had no power and roads were closed around her but no damage to her house. SD starts whining about the tv being loud and coverage of storms. SD gets even pisser when DH comes in starts asking DD if her grandparents and dad were ok. Then tornados headed towards DD's soon to be in-laws and it took over and hour to get a hold of her finance's grandmother. But thankfully she was ok too.
It was exhausting. But DH had a good party. All of our families in the storm path are ok! DD wanted to go see her grandma today but they are only letting emergency personal in the area.
Now waiting for OSD to come over today to see DH. I'm sure we'll face the wrath of MSD soon because the party was about DH and not her.
A button that said "My
A button that said "My daughter is #1"? On HIS birthday? Way for her to try to mark what she perceives is her territory. On my DH's birthday, OSD posted a picture of herself on his Facebook. Not the usual celebratory pictures that you see, with cakes, candles, balloons, but a picture of herself. Based on your SD's behavior, it seems she really believes the entire world revolves around her. Nothing shows diva behavior like being invited to a party and complaining the whole time.
I spent half of my childhood in East Texas. It was super stressing growing up, including a tornado going through the playground while I was at school. I am absolutely petrified of tornadoes now after that experience. Glad your family was safe!
Ha, my SS21 gave DH a framed
Ha, my SS21 gave DH a framed photo of herself for his 50th. In it, she is posing with her chin on her fist, in the sort of way one might do a coquettish selfie. He didn't seem to think it was weird, and he put it on the coffee table in front of the TV so it stares at us all the time. I occasionally move it somewhere else in the house but he always brings it back to the coffee table. This is the same DH who has collages of SD framed around the house...but no photos of his sons.
I just ignore the shenanigans of their mutual admiration. She now has a partner who has noticed it too, and he has said to me he thinks its creepy. I think these besotted fathers encourage their daughters to be centre of the universe types.
What a nut job--"She put a
What a nut job--"She put a button on DH that said 'My daughter is #1.'" Manipulative, petty, holier than thou MEllennial! So obvious to anyone over age 35. Doesn't care about granny; can't stand it when she is not the center of attention (histrionic personality disorder to the max.).
You deserve a medal! But, the amusement factor is high, so maybe that is why it is "tolerable."
It took all myself control
It took all myself control not to modify the button for him! There were so many things I could have added! Eventually by the end of the night and a few drinks in the button was on DH's back LOL I wasn't there when MSD noticed it but she asked DH where his button was he turned around and showed her. She asked who moved it and he said he did because its was itchy! She didn't say another word about it. I have no idea where the button is now.
"who moved it?" I'm sure she
"who moved it?"
I'm sure she was hoping DH would have said evil SM did it.
Just wondering if anyone made
Just wondering if anyone made any comments about SD's behavior. It was obvious DH wasn't going to cater to her and I'm glad he didn't. She pouted because she failed to make the entire event about her. Too bad. Maybe you'll luck out and she'll be so mad she won't want to have anything to do with either one of you for a while.
DH was the only one. He just
DH was the only one. He just told her she needed to be sociable.
Good grief! What a self
Good grief! What a self centered li'l shit! I think I would've pinned that button to her goddamned forehead..geez!
So happy you guys had a good time and she got to sit in her own puddle of dark misery.. maybe next time she'll do everyone a favour and just stay away from it all.
Wow- MSD is an ass. How old
Wow- MSD is an ass. How old is she?
From her behavior I'd say 12,
From her behavior I'd say 12, but she's old enough to buy alcohol so she's at least in her 20's.

24 and married. Way past the age to be buying buttons!
She sounds like a joy to be
She sounds like a joy to be around; always moping about daddy, her poor husband.
GEEEZZZ! Is there any way
GEEEZZZ! Is there any way you can tell DH you will not put up with that kind of behavior in your home? Because you shouldn't.
It sounds to me that the only
It sounds to me that the only improvement on that party is if MSD's car would have been taken by a Tornado on her way home!!!! }:)
Well played by you and by DH IMHO.
Keep up the good work and the team effort in countering MSD's manipulative crap.
