And then suddenly... a miracle..

SD18. has lived with DH and me full time since she was 6. BM is not reliable, drifts in and out of the girls' lives.

We have been through hell and back, me and this kid.
She has called me every nasty name under the sun, has punched me in the face and I have litterally thrown her out of the house. As in, grabbing her by the hairs, and shoving her out of the door... (no I'm not proud of that..)

The toughest years were between 13 and 17.

But in the last year or so she has calmed down a lot. I do still have some issues with her, (like she's not trying very hard to find a job..) but they are not really related to her being a skid, and jobs are quite hard to come by so maybe I am just judging her a bit too harsly on that.

She goes to school (the system works a little differently here in europe), she does her chores, she'll spend the weekend with her bf or he'll spend the weekend here. And we actually like this boy! Wink He helps around the house and likes to chop firewood for me and such. Good kid.

We are however (DH and me both) locked in a war with SD15 which is causing lots of stress in the house. And then, without warning, SD18 posts a message on my facebook page saying: Thank you for all the support you have always given me. You are more like a mom to me then my BM...

Holy cow...
that made me cry!!

Totally sobbing like a 5 year old.

Miracles DO happen after all.

*sniff*

It's amazing the maturity they show that last year when they realize "they can throw me out".

As for the 15yo you may be able to push her in that direction by asking her "Where do you plan on living on your 18th birthday/graduation. It'll give her something to think about. I hope she witnessed her sister flying out the door when you tossed her and don't apologize sometimes that's what it takes.

A gentle left hook by my father did wonders for me.

That is awesome...Sometimes it makes all the crap they put us through worth it...Almost.

Enjoy it and take a screenshot for when she turns again...
