"No Satisfaction" for this rocker adult kids!

Just saw this great opinion piece which uses Mick Jagger's refusal to buy his adult kids their own homes as a way to illustrate the current rage of spoiling all children. Despite his millions, Jagger appears to have a philosophy that kids need to learn how to get along in the world.

I especially like this:

Those who know Jagger well -- including his oldest daughter, Jade, who is the only child of his marriage to ex-wife Bianca -- say that he strongly believes that children ought not think themselves entitled to their parents' money and that they have to make their own way in life.

Jade, who has her own jewelry store, told the newspaper: "I was never a trust-fund child. Dad's got a healthy attitude toward work. You have to look after yourself."

Bravo. Americans really need to hear that message. And not just our kids; all of us should get an earful. At a time when runaway entitlement spending and a national debt of more than $16 trillion threaten the economic future of the United States, the national motto has become "Where's mine?"

Now more than ever, Americans need to understand that part of being a good parent is teaching their adult children to stand on their own two feet.

He doesn't need to buy them houses. Between having him for a father and whichever model/actress for a mother, they already had a foot in doors that others don't have; to build their own careers, make their own money, and buy their own houses.

They are still privileged and probably pretty spoiled, whether he buys them a house or not.

Well, that may be ... but Jagger is used as an example in the article to get to the main point: Parents need to reconsider how much they "give" their kids - from childhood into adulthood.

I love people like Paul McCartney and Mick Jagger in part because of this too. There's nothing wrong with working for your own money.

I wish princess was raised this way. She'd be less of a problem if her parents said "no" to her once in awhile.

If I were Paul McCartney's daughter I wouldn't be too thrilled at having Heather as a sm either.

I don't know. What I do know is that Nancy has her own money. So in Stella's mind anyway, maybe she had/has an easier time liking her.

And I wonder what Heather is like as a bm and how she encourages her daughter to behave to Nancy.
