OT: Aaron Hernandez

Has anyone else been following this story? I have followed it since the beginning and found it very interesting (for lack of better word in regards to the victims).

I was shocked when he wasn't convicted for the deaths of the 2 men from the club. Then his suicide was even more shocking and then the allegations of him being gay.

I also wonder how his fiance stood by him this whole time, in the trials it doesn't sound like he treated her very well- cheating on her, etc. It sounded like she just went with the flow and didn't question him at all about anything.

Whaaaaaat?? Okay, I've been off grid for 4 days and am still playing Catch Up. I knew about the suicide, but now he's gay?? Crikey, I need a vacation.

Allegedly, he left three notes next to his bible in his cell. One for his daughter, one for the fiancee and one for his prison boyfriend.

I just now heard that the fiancee is trying to force the jail to release copies of the notes to her - she says "the grieving family members deserve to know their loved ones' final thoughts."

Interesting - I hope that's true.

I am currently listening to my local sports talk radio - maybe they will have an update soon Smile

I've been following it. Only because I'm a) from Boston and have friends that knew Odin Lloyd and b) I'm a die hard Pats fan. The whole thing is tragic.

I used to work with someone who had been a prison guard for 20 years. He said it was not at all unusual for a prisoner to develop a sexual relationship with another inmate of the same sex, even if he had been heterosexual before entering prison. It was for a variety of reasons ranging from protection to true love. He said most would go back to being heterosexual once out of prison.

Last I heard the family was going to have his brain studied to see if he had CTE. I think the probability is high that he did.

I also believe that Hernandez had CTE. Such a shame that a kid who came from nothing found a way to make it big, and then effed it all up. If he was on the down low, who cares? How sad that he felt he had to kill to keep that secret and then ultimately kill himself.

While I think he was a stone cold killer, I also think that he was clearly a tortured soul. So sad for his daughter Sad

Child has my sympathy. Girlfriend not so much. She did testify (under a grant of immunity), but I wonder how much she knew. It was alleged that she disposed of the gun.

She did/does still love him though. While he was in prison she hyphenated his last name to hers.

And there could be a huge monetary payout. Due to MA law a person who dies in prison before his appeals are exhausted has the conviction vacated. So the Patriots may have to pay the rest of his contract.

It's hard to keep the thieving scumbags straight sometimes, isn't it?

I only followed a bit. I did go back and read his extensive criminal record and realize how much he got away with prior to the last murder. SMDH. Only sympathy is for his child and the families of his victims.

WalkOnBy's picture

Yep - he was a criminal who had others covering up his crimes because of his talent. Shame on those around him in high school and college who knew what was going on and said nothing.

I followed it from day one as well... have nothing else to do lol....

I'm not shocked that he was found guilty, he did it... I'm not shocked that he had a sexual partner in jail, it's still not to say he's gay... sex is sex for some men...

but my opinion... Sports stars get GOD status and think they can get away with it all, then when they get caught out it's cry cry.... and sort of a mentality of... Who are you to accuse me, don't you know who I am?
