Can I catch a break?!!

This is what I get for almost feeling happy about the child support issue.

DH was jogging yesterday, hit some uneven payment and fell. He broke his hand and two ribs, one of them very badly. The way he fell, he actually broke his own ribs with his elbow, that's how hard he went down.

DH has an INSANE tolerance for pain, and when he called me he could barely speak. I knew it was bad. One time he walked around with a burst appendix for 2 days going into sepsis while insisting "It doesn't hurt too bad, I don't want to be a bother" if that gives you any idea of his pain tolerance.

He can barely move at all, he's miserable. I left work immediately yesterday and went to the hospital where he was getting X-rays and patched up. We just hung out in bed all night. Today, I came into work for a half day because I'm right in the middle of a huge account renewal. I will be biking home at lunch to take care of him and will probably work from home the rest of the day.

The poor guy Sad Broken ribs take MONTHS to heal. I have to call the hand specialist today and get an appt to get him in for a check and likely a hard cast. The hospital set him up with a temporary cast...I've never seen it before. They soak this foam in this liquid and rap it in ACE bandage and it gets all hard like a cast. It will do the job for a few days.

On the bright side, BM2 should have been "served" via email with the info from the lawyer yesterday, so there's that.

Poor dh. I hope he recovers soon. My dad had a busted appendix. He went to the dr and they sent him for an MRI or CAT scan (not sure what) because he never goes to the dr and he went in for pain. They called him and told him to get back to the hospital asap and he asked if he could finish dinner first. They said no so he brought it with him. The surgeon refused to operate till they did another scan because he couldn't believe my dad could eat while having a busted appendix.

It's okay to feel happy about the CS issue. It's deserved. Your DH's accident is not bad karma for you feeling happy. I hope he feels better and heals quickly.

That sounds really painful. I am sorry you guys have to deal with all of this. Maybe taking it easy for a few weeks will give your husband a new perspective on things and help him to find a path forward with his career.

Make sure you take him to an orthopedist for his hand. Emergency rooms are infamous for bungling orthopedic jobs.

We saw an orthopedic hand specialist yesterday, which went well. They took off the temporary cast and put him in an immobilizing brace. We go back on Tuesday after the swelling has gone down for another X-ray where they will decide if he needs a full cast or just a brace.

of course he is left handed and broke his left hand... Sad
