Rehab
BM text DH yesterday and said she is schedule to start OUTpatient rehab on 7/14. 5 days a week, 3 hours per day, random weekly testing.
It won't work. Just sayin'. She will have to go away to get the help she needs.

Nope, not gonna work.

Yup. Can't get clean if you
Yup. Can't get clean if you don't escape the toxic environment for the hardest part of recovery. I have a friend who is a meth addict. She bounced in an out of out-patient - usually court ordered. Never took until six months ago when her twin died of an OD. She promised to get clean at his funeral, and left everything behind. Deleted all social media, sold her cell, and moved in with her estranged dad. (Don't worry about a poor SM, he's single lol) Dad had cut her off after she and twin stole $5k from him. Told them they were welcome back when the drugs stopped. She went to an inpatient facility first, then was released on a day program. Any contact with anyone from her old life and she's out of the program and out of Dad's house. She had to get a new job (friend of her dad's whose company does weekly random drug tests) and a new cell. No smart phones, just call and text. No car - she relies on her Dad for transport.
She started making her apology calls last month. She sounds a lot better, but she's been an addict for 10+ years. I think there will probably be a huge party if she makes it to 1 year sober. I keep praying that she keeps on.
I hope your friend stays
I hope your friend stays clean. Meth is a REALLY tough one to kick.
I do too. But I have serious
I do too. But I have serious doubts. The only thing that might do it is her brother's death. They were extremely close and she was getting high with him when he OD'd. She literally saw him die. That shock/horror/grief might be strong enough to overcome the meth.
Uh huh. What an underwhelming
Uh huh. What an underwhelming effort.
I heard some announcers on
I heard some announcers on the radio yesterday raking Johnny Manziel over the coals about how he was going to stop using in a few days. They make fun of him and said when one is really serious about quitting drugs or alcohol you do it TODAY. Because that few days from now will always be "a few days from now".
Maybe she can't get into a program until the 14th, but she could do something like AA or NA now. You are right - it's not going to work.
I asked my sister, she is
I asked my sister, she is married to a recovered addict. She said sometimes for inpatient they have to wait for a bed to open up, but outpatient there isn't usually a wait, unless they are just overwhelmed with patients. Which, may be the case.
Either way, she will be lucky if she isn't dead before the 14th. I called one of the numbers back that she was calling SS from the other night. It was for one of the worst motels on the wrong side of town. Guess I know where she is staying.
Where I live, even outpatient
Where I live, even outpatient has a wait. Both inpatient & outpatient are anywhere from 1-3 months, there's a methadone clinic that gets them in within 2-4 weeks, but people come from all over to go to our rehabs. My ex was an addict & I remember being shocked at how long it took to get into treatment & it was every time. I actually don't think the 14th is very long. Well if she ODs, & gets to the hospital in time, the hospital may keep her until a bed opens.
What a sick joke. Outpatient
What a sick joke. Outpatient isn't going to work for her period.
If she hasn't been using a
If she hasn't been using a long time, outpatient may be enough. Meth isn't physically addictive, so that's one MAJOR thing she doesn't have to contend with. It's just the emotional & mental aspect of quitting meth. With people becoming so depressed they start thinking about suicide, I don't know that going cold turkey & hitting up a NA meeting is the way to go. I'm glad she's at least doing outpatient. It's possible she went for financial assistance & her only option was outpatient? I agree in patient would be better, but it's something. Maybe if she screws up & gets kicked out from too many dirty drug tests, they'll put her in inpatient?
After a very long
After a very long conversation with her mom yesterday, we now know that she has been using since 2011. Which is EXACTLY when we started suspecting. It has just gotten progressively worse since then. Each boyfriend a little more sketchy, each job held for a little less time. Each time we saw her, she was a little more thin, and a lot more... looking like she was on drugs.
She is on medical, so it is possible the restrictions are because of that. She doesn't have the resources to pay for this.
The conversation with her mother was quite, revealing. Apparently BM was molested at age 2 and again at age 12. It was an interesting conversation to say the very least.
That's sad what she went
That's sad what she went through, but she's an adult now. She's no longer a helpless child. She needs to work through her issues so she can move on with her life & to be the best parent she can be. That or realize being a mother isn't for her & back out for the sake of the child. Part of being an adult is realizing the hand you've been delt & figuring out how to work with those cards. Addiction is laying your hand down, she isn't even in the game of life right now. She needs to grow up.
Yeah assistance could be restricting things, outpatient is probably cheaper, so they probably push for that. That alone, is sad.
That should have said
That should have said Medi-Cal, which is state insurance. But you got what I was saying I think.
I have always wondered if there was some sort of sexual abuse that happened to her. Her behavior depicts that "text book".
oy vey. i highly doubt
oy vey. i highly doubt outpatient will work. dumb@$$ did a brief in-patient stint several years ago. meh. NONE of it will work until/*if* SHE decides she's done.
any updates on ss phone # or dh finally deciding to file?
We blocked all the numbers
We blocked all the numbers she has been using to try to contact him, and changed the settings on his phone to not allow blocked calls.
