Why didn't I think of this sooner?
First, my throwing of empty boxes and containers that are put back into the fridge or cupboard makes me happy. They are out of my way and DP gets the message to clean them up. We're out of milk apparently so I get to buy myself a latte on the way to work; oh wait, no DP will.
SD11 just noticed the boxes on the floor and made a comment to SD9 about it. She has no idea why they are on the floor because she put them away this morning (yeah, completely empty). I'm in the bedroom so not involved. HA!
And I have replaced SD9s very expensive maple syrup with regular affordable stuff, using the expensive bottle. She won't touch any other but the premium at home (but miraculously will eat any syrup at a restaurant). It's been a week and she hasn't noticed.
And I will replace the SDs shampoo with the same method this weekend. No more expensive stuff, just the regular in the expensive bottle. You know, for the once a month hair washing at dad's (disclosure that BM makes sure their hair is clean but DP has no idea that they NEED to bathe regularly).
My job is done for the week. Yay me!

Yeah, this happened with SD11
Yeah, this happened with SD11 and Oreos recently.
I can see this coming with expensive shampoos and things.
I'll just replace them for now as see how it goes!
OMG! Some else is dealing
OMG! Some else is dealing with the maple syrup issue.
When SS18 was 7 he would only use the super expensive maple syrup that DH could only find at one store. DH made pancakes for the boys every Sunday they were with us. So after DH moved in and one Sunday morning when the super expensive syrup was gone, I filled the empty bottle with good old cheap syrup.
DH was freaking out, saying SSthen7 would taste the difference. Well SSthen7 didn't notice at all.
So DH and I just kept refilling the super expensive bottle with cheap syrup for YEARS. It got to the point where the label was faded and peeling off the glass. SS18, by then was 13 or 14, never noticed. DH finally told SS18 when the label fell off the bottle.
And you know what? The little sturd has refused to use syrup since. Whatever dude!

LOL - I haven't even told DP about my switcheroo.
He just knows we aren't out of syrup yet.
And will never be...
