8 days of bliss gone!

Cover1W's picture

SDs arrived after a space of 8 lovely days.

* SD11 again states she's not hungry after dinner is served. Cover is now done making anything whatsoever with SD11 in mind.

* SD9 is filthy. Head to toe. Whatever. The only thing is I had her wash her face after she sat down to dinner because it was so gross. I engaged so I could eat. She did do It with no questions though which was nice.

* they went nuts loud after dinner. I cleaned up what I needed to get leftovers ready for my lunch and went out to the front deck to get away.

* DP asked me what should happen with SD11s dinner remains. "I don't care. You can deal with it." And I walked outside.

* DP said he rigged wifi to turn off in the evenings. Yeah, we will see if he actually activated it.

* DP said this past weekend that he was thinking of getting SD11 a Kitchen aid mixer (yes the $300 one!) for "graduation" of elementary school. He asked what I thought.
1) she didn't graduate really or do anything special.
2) we agreed that if she saved up most of the money for it and still wanted it by her birthday in December we would cover the difference (up to $75). She's saved nothing and earns nothing because jobs for money are somehow looked down upon.
3) she gets everything she wants already with no questions. She got a computer and a phone this year and a Kindle last year. Why can't she work for something?
4) she's 11!!!!
5) she hasn't talked about her "cupcake business" for months now. Do you think her phase is over? Her $ from that should fund the mixer.
DP says, "I knew you'd say that!"
Me, "you asked and I gave my opinion. I totally disagree."
DP, "I just want her to come out of her room and socialize."
Me, "then make her! Give rules about her getting off the damn phone and computer. Don't bribe or reward her! And if you do this I will buy NO baking goods for the house at all. She uses ALOT when she does her cupcakes and it's expensive."

In the end The next day I compromised and told DP he could get s good hand mixer but that's it. He seemed to think it was a good idea but I am prepared to come home to the big mixer sometime. And if it ever is in my way it's going to a special storage place.

I have a long work day tomorrow and will likely hide out on back deck after with a soda water, white wine and lime concoction.

WTF? She doesn't need a $300 mixer! Yeah when I was 11, my best friend and I had a cake "business" too....for all of about 7 days. Has she been watching Two Broke Girls?

PPP owns a US$15 mixer. I own a US$300 mixer. Our cupcakes still taste the same no matter which blender was used.

And yes I am a bad mother.

I'm jealous of that kid. I have a Kitchen aid (red please), Vitamix and a Keurig on my list of new kitchen toys.

My used yellow (no, it does not match) kichen aid bought at a yard sale for $75 years ago works great. I do not plan to replace it until it dies, probably my daughter will have to do that after I am dead. If anyone gets a new mixer, it should be YOU and absolutely no one without clean hands should enter YOUR kitchen.

I must be a RUBM too. My DD, stb 15 does not have a laptop, Kindle or tablet. I took her out to dinner for 8th grade graduation. But she is not a COD, her dad is just deceased. That explains it.
