Last Straw in Kitchen

Cover1W's picture

So last night I told DP SD11 needs to clean up her lunch making mess in the mornings after she packs her lunch. There was stuff all over the counter last night. I left it there. Today we are leaving for a long weekend (just DP and I) so I stayed in bed until everyone left.

I then go downstairs. Kitchen is a disaster and new lunch crap is on top of old. And I HAVE to clean it since we are gone for three days. We also have a rodent issue. I am pissed now. I am going to tell DP that unless the kitchen is cleaned in entirety I will not have anything to to with food making for anyone but me. I will do no dishes but for mine. I will go buy disposable plates and utensils. If everyone else "doesn't have the time" then why should I? And if we are moving to a bigger house, which we need, you can bet that everyone else will need to step up their cleaning help because I won't live in a mess just because everyone else doesn't care enough to pick shit up.

I also threw away things that were left on the deck stairs by SDs in the last week. Gone. Buh-bye. I do not pick that stuff up.

Yes!!! I completely stopped last month. Told DP I was done done done. He doesn't want to do that either. It has been my favorite change so far. I still make SD9s lunch but that will stop next year. I think she wants to do her own soon anyway (she's more independent and organized than SD11.

I already do throw SD11 trash into her room. I can't put dirty dishes in there because of rodent issue. Plus I have a hard rule myself of no food in bedrooms. However placing all dishes at her place at the dinner table may be an idea. And it's not just dishes but food crap dried on the counter. Gross.

My DH made the rule that if it's left on the floor after they go home, it's trash.

Last skid weekend, PigPen left a pair of socks on the floor. I mentioned it to DH when I went in to vacuum. He picked them up and put them in the laundry basket. After he left for work, I put them in a plastic bag, put them in the back of my car, and deposited them in the trash can at the gas station. Along with some Legos, a homework assignment, and... PrincASS15's thumb drive. }:)

I use various gas station trash cans around town - don't want anyone to catch on...

HE needs to clean if the skids don't and HE needs to be buying paper plates and plastic utensils if he doesn't feel like his spawn need to learn to clean up after themselves.
