please help . .cat issues
My cat is 2.5 years old. She has always eaten the same food and occasionally gets hairballs. Last night around midnight, she started throwing up a few times after gagging. It looks like her food. I think she may have possibly eaten a bug. But all night she keeps gagging but hasn't thrown up. Does anyone have anything that I can try? I'm freaking out and the vet doesn't open for four hours. But then again bringing her to the vet is always a huge ordeal. . She hates it. . Fights it . . .hyperventilate in the car.. I normally get anxiety meds from vet before I have to bring her it's so bad. I don't want to put her through that. Please help.

Awwweee, poor baby. You got some good suggestions here. It's been a while since I've had a kitty, but from what I remember, these things usually resolve themselves. She should be fine until you can call the vet and get some more suggestions.
Since it sounds as though this is a reoccurring problem, I would probably get some hairball medicine to give her somewhat regularly. There is a flavored paste that comes in a tube, and she should just lick it off of your finger.

Could be a hairball or something stuck. Anything oily like MixFoxies tuna could get it into the stomach and remove the blockage Give the cat enough oily tuna to produce a loose stool so it doesn't get stuck in the cats intestines. Long haired cats are prone to hairball a or it could be something weird the cat ate...
Take the cat to the vet when it opens. That gagging could actually be a cough - cats get asthma.
I know its stressful, just keep kitty calm and make sure she doesn't dehydrate. Time will tick on to vet opening.
One of my cats throws up if
One of my cats throws up if she eats too quickly (which she always does, she is not that bright!), and she gets furballs - she will be noisy for ages if she gets a furball. My other cat rarely has furballs or sick, in fact never actually seen her do either but she has crazy coughing fits regularly - BS7 says she sounds like a dog barking - which she does. She will go on for hours, then just stop, with no resolution that I see!

Poor kitty, I agree with the others and wish you guys the best. If I'm not mistaken, I might have seen dry cat food that helps with fur balls, might be worth asking the vet about.

Yes. We have the food that's hairball formulated and we have the tube stuff for hairballs too. She has never actually thrown up before like repeatedly. We are here now to see. She refused tuna fish and water etc. I'm so worried.

Hmmm, she's only 2.5 yrs., so hopefully it's not something like renal failure, (they will stop eating and drinking), or anything serious. Maybe the posters who suggested asthma could be correct? It's so hard to tell with kitties (since they can't talk to you!
). A cold could possibly cause those symptoms as well and is very treatable.
Well, I'm doing lots of speculating cause I went through stuff with my kitties and always tried to figure things out until I could get them to the vet.
If she has something stuck in her throat, hopefully the vet can get it to pass through quickly and she'll be home with you soon!!
