Mwahahaha (and a question for foster parents)
90 minutes and counting until the CW comes and SIL decides to text me:
SIL: Can u come over?
Me: I'm busy right now, why, what's up?
SIL: I need hlep with the house
Me: I'm busy all morning but I can maybe come over this afternoon? (The CW comes at noon 
)
SIL: its ok nvm
I sense that they dinked around, didn't get it cleaned up, and now are finally realizing that CPS wants to take N out. Of course, half the things on the list won't be done (All I know of actually being done is the bathroom was cleaned by a friend of SIL's and SIL's meds were put up in a cabinet) I know for sure the house hasn't been bombed for fleas and the dog hasn't gone to the vet. They were told both those must be done immediately (N had 50 flea bites on him 
)
So my question today is: What should I make sure of for MY home inspection.

Probably nothing that you
Probably nothing that you dont already do with small kids in the house. Just have it clean, dishes done, no hazards laying around, outlet covers. Doesnt have to be spotless or magazine ready...just show them how you guys live.

I very much agree. I can't stand that he's living like this.
The only time in HISTORY that my house could even come close to comparing with BMIL & SIL's is when I had horrible post partum depression and BM had broken into my house. I let everything go and just stayed in my bed all day. The house was trashed. Once we moved and I got treatment, I decided would never let my house look like that again. Hasn't ever even come close since.

All CPS will want to see from your home visit is that your house is clean (not spotless) and that you have a space (bed and room) for N.

That may be, but my sister is a social worker and foster parent and that, in essence, is what they are there to determine.
CPS visited us and didn't
CPS visited us and didn't really look around much. I asked them b/c DSO and the skids worked hard to keep it cleaned up.
You must have electric and running water. You must have it picked up and fairly clean (my carpets are 15 years old and stained but they were vacuumed). I don't have beer or alcohol bottle as decorations but I did have a cool NASCAR Bud bottle and little stuff that I put up.
Each kid should have their own bedroom with a door that closes.
Mostly they sat and talked with us for about an hour. Maybe they didn't look too closely b/c the BM was camping with strangers and skids were sleeping on the floor in a corner.
Medicine is placed on very
Medicine is placed on very top shelf of bookcase in a decorative bowl. I have to stand on tip toe to get to it. Should that be okay?
Cleaning agents are in top cabinet of cleaning closet, but it's not lockable. Kids wouldn't be able to get to it though, even if they got into my cleaning closet (which is lockable)
We don't drink. My mother is a recovering alcoholic as is DH. We never have any alcohol in our house.
We also cook most food at home. We get fast food 1 day a week, Satuday, for lunch. Does frozen pizza count? We have that for dinner on Saturdays as well.
Carpets were new in March and I keep them clean. There is a small stain in BD2's room from chocolate milk (learned that lesson!)
N and BD2 have their own rooms. BD2's room has an extra crib mattress that SD3 can sleep on IF she ever stays over. NBD sleeps in a bassinet next to my bed. We don't currently have a bed in N's room but we do have a crib mattress with a sheet on it and a pillow and blanket.
Our electric, gas, and rent are paid (landlord forgot to pay water but I took care of that this morning so it's back on... Worthless man)
We have smoke detectors up to code.
Windows upstairs are up to code. Downstairs are being replaced (they are original and my house was built in '41) next year.
Going to go keep cleaning now. I swear I get one room done and then feel like the others got twice as messy.

We had an inspection by CPS. SS10 was taken from BM for medical neglect and placed in our home during their investigation. She had to jump through hoops and clean EVERYTHING for hers. CPS CW came to our house on a Friday morning, we are fairly clean and neat people all the time, so we didn't do much other than pick up newspapers and magazines. CPS just wanted to see the room SS10 slept in, that we had food in the fridge and pantry, the bathroom he'd use. They weren't real thorough but were nice. BM said it was horrible for her, she cleaned for a week and the CPS CW kept pointing out all the things that needed to be cleaned and taken care of before they'd even consider allowing SS10 back in the house. Well, being basically a SAHM with a VERY part time job, one might think that you would clean your house on a regular basis, not only for inspections of CPS.
