SD18 funny conversation this morning
SD18 and I were sitting having a cup of coffee this morning before I went to work. This has recently become a habit where she will wake up, just to have some adult woman chat time; even if there is nothing else she has planned to do that early in the morning. One of the topics that came up in our chat is our family heritage. And how utterly diverse/ messed up it is.
Please understand, I am NOT talking about race here, I am talking about heritage.
SD18 and I were initially talking heritage and breaking down who was what. She was trying to figure out what each set of kids was, hereditarily.
DH is 75% Irish 25% English
BM is 100% Hispanic
I am 50% Irish (my mom is pure blooded) and estimated about 40% Middle Eastern and 10% Polish (My paternal grandmother was half polish/half Middle Eastern, not real sure what that would make my percentage)
My ex husband is 50% American Indian, 25% German, 25% mix of English, Spanish and other European countries.
So after listing all that out, I started telling her “That makes you kids”
And she interrupted me: “Confused. It makes us confused! We have the blood of 1/3 of the world’s civilizations either pumping through our veins or raising us, and most of those mixed bloods don’t get along! We have an internal war going on!”
I had to laugh at her as the hands were flapping and she was all animated talking about one blood cell of one heritage challenging another from a different heritage to a duel. She was being silly, intentionally silly. And has firmly decided she is laying the blame for all future acne outbreaks as proof of the internal war carrying on within her poor confused body, guess those pustules are now war wounds.
Whatever kiddo, just remember to clean your room

Cute analogy she came up
Cute analogy she came up with.
Sounds like our BM. She
Sounds like our BM. She claims that she's Irish because dyes her hair fire engine red. The shade of red she picks isn't natural in ANY heritage.
You know, kids today really
You know, kids today really do experience a variety of things. Mixed heritage is one... divorces... blended families.... families with alternative type lifestyles... That was a good conversation you guys had. I get a bit frustrated with "young people today" but I have to remember they are living in a completely different world now and facing a variety of challenges and situations I never had to even consider.
That's funny. I always say
That's funny. I always say that about DH. He is Jewish and German. Yeah... serious battles goin on in there or what?!?!
