Fun blog: Can your stepkids be mistaken as your own?
Somebody brought up a while back about whether or not stepkids look like them and if they could be mistaken for their own kids when they are out and about.
Unfortunately for me, SD20 looked like she could be my mixed-race child, as we both have long dark hair, only I am pale as a ghost and she's so dark her legs are nearly black (not exaggerating, when she was younger and wearing a long black shirt you could barely tell where her legs ended and the shirt began). Plus, BM and I are only a year apart in age so it's totally reasonable I could have a child that age.
What about the rest of you? Could your stepkids be mistaken for your own, or are you lucky and look nothing like them?

I'm lucky they look nothing
I'm lucky they look nothing like me. Or maybe they're the lucky ones, lol! I was noticing ALL my grey hair this morning, ugh!
Ugh, the gray hair. Luckily
Ugh, the gray hair. Luckily so far I am in my early 40s and only have two gray hairs, so knock on wood I am lucky that way. The women on my dad's side of the family gray late, the women on my mom's side gray early, I appear to have inherited my gray hair gene from my dad thank goodness.
I don't think skids look like
I don't think skids look like me at all .. they have bright blonde hair .. my hair is such a dark shade of brown, people often think it's black.
We do all have blue eyes though.
I have no idea if people really think I'm their mom, but strangers have referred to me as "mom" in their presence before.
SD has the same color eyes as
SD has the same color eyes as DH, so people could and have mistaken her for mine. Unfortunately, since she rarely behaved in public a day in her life the entire time she was growing up, the context was rarely a good one.
One of the four looks more
One of the four looks more like me than anyone in her family. It happens sometimes when we go places, especially if it is just the two of us.
I would honestly wonder if SD
I would honestly wonder if SD was even related to DH except for the fact that they have the same feet. They don't really look alike at all except for hair color. She is SO dark compared to both DH and BM, it's weird.
In our case, it's the
In our case, it's the opposite. She's blonde and fair skinned and the rest have dark hair and more olive complexions. She looks like her aunt but on her mother's side. Who knows, she could totally be unrelated.
My brother is raising a child that we've determined is clearly not related to us based on on her looks. It's impossible. But she's been family since birth and we love her so we all pretend it's not the case.
My SD is adorable blonde hair
My SD is adorable blonde hair blue eyes, I have brown hair and brown eyes. Everywhere we go people assume she is my daughter :? I take it a compliment
Other than being short like
Other than being short like me, NOPE. She looks NOTHING like me at all.
My three kids are all
My three kids are all blondies and I'm a brunette - but the oldest and youngest look JUST like me. SS13 has blondish hair also, so he fits right in with the kids and people assume he's part of my clan.
Unfortunately, DH has dark hair also, so if we are at the mall, the kids may not look like ours at first glance. Heck I'm still wondering if SS13 really is his.
Well, both DH and I have very
Well, both DH and I have very dark hair (nearly black) and both of our two BDs have blond/light brown hair. I think it will darken as they age, but I also wonder if people think something is up when they see us together.
YES! I have light hair and
YES! I have light hair and light eyes. My two daughters have light hair and light eyes. My DH has light hair and light eyes. My SD has light hair and light eyes. We have people mistake SD for mine all of the time. Especially if we are all out together.
Looks wise, no. But my skids
Looks wise, no. But my skids (and bios) are mixed race so its entirely plausible that they are all mine. I am Caucasian and dh is Puerto Rican, so all the kids are darker than me. Bs4 and bs11 months are noticeably lighter than the skids (since they are half white) but the average stranger wouldn't realize that they aren't mine as well. Esp since the call me mommy (sigh).

lol just had to laugh because I am Puerto Rican and the reason my SKID looks nothing like me is because she has dark curly hair and dark eyes and I am blond, blue eyes, straight hair lol
No, not at all. My children
No, not at all. My children are giants. Literally. My baby turned 1 in the first week of April. She's so far off the growth chart it isn't funny. My 3 year old is the size of BM3's 6 year old. They wear the same size clothes, although not the same style. SD6 likes dresses and tights. My DD3 would rather be boiled in oil than wear tights or any form of dress shoe. SD10 wears a size 7/8. Her mom can't possibly be 5 feet tall. I'm 5'7, have a size 10 foot, and I'm a blocker on my Roller Derby team. SD10 looks like a stiff breeze might carry her off. My DD9 wears a girls 14/16 and has a women's size 7 1/2 foot. My DS13 is 6'4, and can palm a basketball. My SS14 is about my height, and his mother is Aleut, so he looks Aleut too. DH is Caucasian, and so am I. If they didn't have the same body type, honestly SS14 wouldn't be identified at DH's son, but they both look like Irish bareknuckle boxers. SS isn't a big guy, but he's build like a brick shithouse.
None of the steps look like me in the face, but all my bio daughters are the spitting image of me. My son...he thankfully looks like his father, but got the size from my side of the family...so basically the best of both worlds.
I wish SS14 was my son. I mean, as little as he has to do with his mother these days, it's LIKE he's my son, but I wish I had had him all his life. He's a gem. My stepdaughters....whew, that's another story altogether right there.
Not unless there's some
Not unless there's some genetic mutation that can cause an Asian person to be able to pop out a blonde caucasian baby...
That's funny. When DH and I
That's funny. When DH and I met he said he had a type and I am NOT it. He liked short, petite women with blond hair and blue eyes. Typical guy I guess. I am NOT short, NOT petite, nearly black hair and green eyes. Oh well for him.
Thankfully we look NOTHING
Thankfully we look NOTHING alike.
no. i'm only 14 years older
no. i'm only 14 years older than sd, and i am 100% white while she is 1/4 mexican. i guess some people could think her father is mexican, but it's unlikely anyone would think we are related. she looks nothing at all like my blonde haired, blue eyed bs5 either, and they are half siblings.
hehehe! her general annoying
hehehe! her general annoying personality is nothing like me, either. i'm quiet. she has to be loud and trying to draw attention to herself ALL the time.
Lol.. The elderly teller at
Lol.. The elderly teller at my bank who has known us for years told me that ss has my eyes. She went on to say that he got dhs boisterous personality. She thought she had offended me because I was trying I figure out what to say and started explains that I am quiet and he is luck because he got my beautiful eyes. I didn't have the heart to correct her and make her more uncomfortable. Some how neither me or dh hav meentioned that he is my ss any time over the last four years. Now it's just ackward.. On another note, both bm and I are 17 years older than ss who is now 8. A few days ago we were in the grocery and he wandered off. a woman told me that she just saw my brother in the candy aisle. also ackward. FML
SS had DH's facial features
SS had DH's facial features but his height and coloring resemble me. He does not look like he belongs to BM at all.
But unfortunately he has inherited his maternal family's predisposition to alcoholism and mental issues.
I used to be mistaken for my
I used to be mistaken for my SM's daughter or sister. She's 17 years older than me but looks a lot younger than she is. I'm 23 now and she's 40 but could pass for 28. It was kind of creepy when people thought we were both my dad's daughters.
SO's son looks nothing like me. I have been referred to as mom by random people when I was babysitting my godson and his cousin. They look nothing like me...
