O/T Happy birthday #61 to me.
Yesterday I passed 60. I still don't feel any different than I did when I turned 18 until I look at the waist size on my 501s after the stiff and achy transition out of bed every AM. Fortunately, a warm shower akes care of that and I get back to as my bride says "being my usual 13yo PITA". And the white bearded silver haired guy looking back at me in the mirror can't possibly be me.
My dad sent me a text early in the AM that made me laugh. "Ordinarily, I fundamentally hate kids... but I actually like you. Go figure! Upon reflection, it's probably because we "grew up together". Happy birthday son. Have a great time on this special day. "
That had me chuckling for about an hour. Dad has always maintained that he hates kids. Of course dad is the one surrounded by any kids that are near by. All of the kids that we grew up with had close and teasing relationships with our father. His GKs all worship him. Mom too, but their relationship with dad is one of active harassment in both directions. My niece and her DH asked him t officiate their wedding. So, he got ordained online and officiated their nuptials.
Mom and dad married at 17 and 19. They had me at 19 and 21. So on some level we did grow up together. Son #2 followed 6yrs later, and #3 followed 2yrs after that. My brother will be 55 in a couple of months. The baby would be 53 this year. We lost him to Spinal Meningitis when he was 10mos old. My youngest nephew was born on the same day within minutes of the same time as my youngest brother was born. So we have a blessing and a reminder of the baby every year.
DW took me out to a great steak place for dinner. She Wowed several of the parties that were seated when we arrived and as we left. 5'10" in a sexy fitted suit, some decolletage on display, wearing red stiletto healed Jimmy Choo's and I can't say I blame them. It is hard to miss a 6'2" super model chick. She did get the stink eye from a couple of wives or GFs. And a couple of complements on the shoes from appreciative fashionista ladies.
I am so lucky and blessed.
Happy birthday to me!

Welcome to Senior Citizenship!
You do have to slow down particularly physically or else you'll pay. I just turned 64 last November and for a belated bday gift, I gave myself herniated discs and resulting sciatica.
My fault really as I was moving 5 gallon paint cans around but was foolish enough to try and do some moves to try and unlock my back. Big mistake! It has put me totally behind schedule on the rentals and what was worse, Chef thought I was faking it-- went into a rant that I was "too young" to retire from my 40 hour+ W2 job... that it was all in my head and I should go back to work despite having been working since Chef was barely toilet trained. Reminiscent of my paternal grandmother chewing out her younger 2nd husband for not working full time well into his 70s!
Meanwhile, I have a rich friend/former coworker who's DH wont even let her pump gas!
Chef will pay for that comment by putting in a new LP swim spa heater (electric is approaching .17 a Kwh here) and a new entrance door on my house. Not to mention "Davey" (younger former coworker that Chef has a bromance with) will be putting in my open loop hybrid geothermal unit.
Happy Nov B-day
Take care of you.
Pardon
My hijack
Nope. No hijack.
No pardon needed.
Hey there
Happy birthday Rags!

Happy Birthday Rags!!!
Happy Birthday Rags.. .I def
Happy Birthday Rags.. .I def have to say it beats the alternative to get a year older. I'm not too far behind you.. Being a woman does seem to be a bit tougher at times because our "beauty and youth" seem to be what society places a lot of value on. Men get to age and keep their "attractiveness" a bit longer..lol.
But, have a great day! and to many many more!
Yes
Women usually become invisible after age 55. Unless you have boatloads of money to spend on nips and tucks.
Happy Birthday!
Here's to a great day celebrating you!!

Lol at the "I fundamentally hate kids ...." when I think about Disneyland dads kids behavior ... can't say that I disagree with this sentiment
Although I get it he was joking with you and softened his stance when he realized the joy and value you brought to his life
Unlike the Disneyland poorly raised spawns who bring nothing but demands, debt, and disappointment
Lol. My dad is like the kid Pied Piper.
All of the kids in their neighborhood flock to him. He is out working on a car or the yard, walking to check the mail, etc, and they are right there with him "helping". He tells them when he first sees them "Don't you know that I hate kids?" They all chime back "No you don't!"
They knock on mom and dad's door to visit and see what Mr. and Mrs R are up do. Mom gets them involved in whatever project she has going in the kitchen or her craft room, dad grumbles at them or goes into get out of here mode then invariably goes into take a look at this mode. Usually they end up around dad going through maps as dad shows them where they are, where the kids all went to visit their various GPs during the holidays, etc... then when their parents come knocking to herd their broods home dad sends them off with a "Get out! You all know I had kids!". Replied to by a chorus of "No you don't!" kid voices.
Basically, my dad is as much or more full of crap than I am.
Happy (late) Birthday!
Happy (late) Birthday!
Dang, Rags!
Dang, Rags!
I don't know how I missed this IMPORANT post! All the best on your 61st; I've concluded that your bride is the best birthday gift that any silver fox could wish for.
Thank you grannyd.
No arguement from me on my bride being the greatest gift and blessing in my life. Though I have lived a life of many blessings.
Any silver fox though? I'm thinking that Mr. grannyd won that blessing as well and no doubt would say that he has won it resoundingly.
