Book recommendation.
Forums:
Hi all. Just started reading a novel How the Light Gets In by Joyce Maynard. It resonates with me on several levels. The main character is older divorced and the story centers around her relationships years later with her ex, her adult children and grandchildren. Really well done and although fiction is insightful. I'm only 20 percent through the book and enjoying it. Different from my usual UK thrillers.
Thank you!
I will check this out, I love a good read! I have been reading medical stuff all weekend...very dry, not fun....
Did you know this
is a sequel to her earlier book "Count the Ways?" I discovered this when I was looking at our library's online catalog!
Thanks!
I appreciate the heads-up, Newimprvmodel! I downloaded the book from my private site a few hours ago and am already completely engaged. Hold up! I just noted Dollbabies' post regarding 'How the Light Gets In' being a sequel. Back to my site; I prefer to read my books in sequence. Thanks to you, as well, Dollbabies!
Great book!
I'm halfway through, 'Count the Ways', and if the sequel, 'How the Light Gets In', is even half as good, I'll be thrilled. I suspect that I'll be reading until the cock crows; this book is 'unputdownable'! Thanks again, Newimprvmodel and Dollbabies for providing many hours of entertainment.
So glad!
Reading has been my passion since I was a kid. I'm still working on How the Light Gets In. Joyce Maynard is a great author and really nails it discussing divorce etc etc.
I just joined in reading
I just joined in reading "Count the Ways." She writes in a clear and concise way that is easy to understand. I'm enjoying the descriptions of all the unexpected twists and turns that life takes. Some of it really hits home for me from pieces of my own life. Thanks for the recommendation.
Yo, Elea,
Yo, Elea,
I'm not going to disclose the plot of 'Count the Ways', but are you resenting that asshole, Cam, as much as I am? He reminds me so much of the 'hobosexuals' that many of our abused members support, nome sayin'? URG!
And, BTW, I have each of the books in both e-pub and mobi formats. If you, or any of our other members wish to forward your e-mail addresses to me, via PM, I'll happily submit copies of the books in whichever mode you prefer.
Are those UK thrillers available in English? Lol.
Are those UK thrillers available in English? Lol. I crack myself up.
Just kidding of course.
Enjoy your reading. It is my fondest low energy pastime.
