Congratulations, I remember when Spawn turned 18 I wanted to throw a party, I think I actually did end up having an impromptu one with friends.  I spammed my DH’s text messages with all kinds of freedom memes and told him he could finally block MethMouth for good.

Good things do happen. Hope you are planing a weekend away. To a nice place with good restaurants. Just think you can charge  it. Planty if money to pay it off next month 

SD17 turns 18 in a few weeks and graduates (we hope) May 31. 3 short weeks...and then things change, sort of. No more Toxic Troll and her threats.

Congratulations! I remember the blessed day when family support ended. It was even more blessed when college payments were over. 

Oh Happy Day!!!! Congratulations on making it to this point! It really should be a Hallmark Card kinda Holiday/Moment celebrated in FULL!!!!!

I can't wait to get to this day as well. It sounds harsh to those on the outside. Outsiders look at you funny thinking you didn't wanna support the kids,  but its more about the freedom from the HCBM than the money. (the money is a nice side effect don't get me wrong). The obligation vs. freedom to contribute willigly directly to the kid makes a difference too. 

Anyhow, Celebrate Big!!! You deserve it.

An Angel gets its wings! I am over SOOO happy for you! SS turns 18 on Sunday and graduates June 1st, then CS is over for him! I am so happy I could cry! And....AND! Last night he finally gave in and will be going to college in FLORIDA!!!! That is a 21 HOUR drive from us!! So not driveable at all, and not a quick flight. I feel like I won the lottery, although this was hard-earned... Congrats to you!!

I bet that's a great feeling! I hope you enjoy 100% of your hard-earned income. Now it's time to reestablish new boundaries because trust me, the drama and stress never ends. 

I remember when YSS turned 18.  Then again this is NY so had to flush money for another 3 yrs down the crapper as CS automatically goes to age 21 here!

We (read: I) overpaid CS for 19.5 years bc Chef thought by voluntarily overpaying CS to the Girhippo, she'd "play fair."  WOW did that ever backfire!  But I digress.

Just be aware that these men's personality doesn't change after CS ends.   They're not all "I'm so grateful to you SM for having to endure all these emotional and financial hardships that you would not have had otherwise because of me and my failed first family drama."

Don't just enjoy the extra cash, make plans for it so it can't be wasted on anyone else ( it no longer matters what your dh thinks he should be paying - his guilt is his problem).  Dammit, it's YOUR turn.
