Because I had cataract removal surgery Wednesday, I was required to have a covid test last Saturday. It was a drive-up facility at a local hospital. The only surprise was that the nurse stuck the swab way up my nose. But the test only lasted a few seconds. The biggest ordeal was waiting in a cell-parking lot but it was only an hour from when I left home til I returned so no big deal. Test was negative.
I go past another test site where I have seen hundreds of cars lined up. My site seemed to be for doctor-recommend testing. I'm guessing the one near me is a drive-up facility but I don't know.
Cataract surgery is shockingly simple and easy. 15 minutes and done. No pain, just don't rub your eye. I had both eyes done (early cataracts) and I now have 20/25 vision after a lifetime of terrible nearsightedness.
10/10, I recommend getting early cataracts if you are nearsighted.
Mine started in my 40s, had them removed in my early 50s. For most people it's much later than that. I was -7 in both eyes, now I can see without any corrective lenses.
Just finished second cataract procedure. Highly recommend if you have poor vision. Was not a lasix candidate, negative -7:5 in both eyes. Had to pay out of pocket for multi focal lenses but am 20 / 20 hours after the procedure highly recommend.
and Covid swab is no worse than a flu swab. The anticipation is musc worse than the actual process.
The swab test was just unpleasant for a few seconds, i've had more pain getting a pedicure. Lol. I despise all medical procedures so would rate this very low on the pain scale. The cataract surgery is no big deal, just my normal hatred of medical procedures.
I am a huge baby as well, and was dreading the test. I can honestly say it wasn't that bad. What made it tolerable was how quick it was. She put the swab high up the nose, but just for an instant - then she did the other side. My eyes watered a bit, and it hurt for an instant - but it was not nearly as bad as I thought it was going to be.
I had one because I had symptoms, and I was negative. I have to have another one in a month because of a scheduled medical procedure, and while not looking forward to it - I am not dreading it. I think you will be fine.
I had it done before a medical procedure as well. It's unpleasant, but it lasts about 3 seconds, then it's done. She only did one side, and said they now think doing only one side is fine.
The test was way less awful than I thought. I tested positivr and so did my DH and toddler. Toddler and I had no symptoms other than I lost sense of smell....DH felt crappy for a week or so.
Thank you everyone. I had the test done yesterday evening, and it was fine. The build up was the worst part. I'm self isolating for now with tons of ice cream and wine.

Did you find the test painful? Sorry if that's insensitive - cataract surgery is a big deal, and much scarier than a silly Covid test.
