Has anyone been able to make being a SM work?
We are all on here to vent but I was wondering if anyone has ever turned years of Step Parent he** around once the skids became adults.
It's not working for me, it actually gets worse as time goes on and that is why I have been practicing disengagement for going on two years.

I think that if you don't
I think that if you don't have the support of your husband, it's not going to work.
Your step kids are adults and should have their own lives. If they are still causing problems in your marriage, it's because your husband is letting them. That's a problem.
I refuse to allow the BS to
I refuse to allow the BS to continue into adult hood. I’ve said it here before and I am moving to another state or a town farther away when skids are adults.....with or without DH...
I’m happy. DH doesn’t allow
I’m happy. DH doesn’t allow SS19 to cause problems with us.
I've been married to my DH
I've been married to my DH for almost 20 years. I have 2 terrific step kids, SD28 and SS25, and 2 grandchildren. Yes, it can work out, and it did for me, but I had to learn how to have a relationship with my kids in spite of my DH. He is a total pushover and I'm just not. It does help that the ex wife and I were on good terms most of the time. She had remarried by the time I met my husband.
I tried to do right by the kids. In my situation, where things were fairly good most of the time, I just decided that I would act in what i felt was the best interest of the kids and hope for the best. It worked out for me. We are a close family at this point.
