YSS Making his "Own Hours" at School!

thinkthrice's picture

He shows up when he wants.  He leaves when he wants.  He skips entirely when he wants.

Annnnnd the zeroes are starting to pop out for assignments, homework and classes.  He is even failing Varsity Chorus this year!!! (and gym for lack of gym shoes)

WOW!  Got a feeling the Houseshitter isn't even going to be able to do Kabuki Theatre Diploma.

Spawn did the same thing, showing up, leaving, not coming in. She had to attend Saturday school a couple of times, they still graduated her come the end of the year and she got to participate in all the senior stuff.

It's all about money and attendance, as long as his stuff gets excused by the GIR they don't care, they still get the money that way.

LOL

Actually it's not funny. At a previous job they put a guy in my department because all the other managers had had enough of him. He didn't show up to work. When I called him he would give an excuse for not being able to come in, or he'd say he'd be right in and show up 2-3 hours later. He took a week vacation but didn't come back for two weeks. He didn't work. I was livid. I had it all documented, three months worth of daily problems, and I went to HR. They hemmed and hawed. I said I had talked to the other managers and they all wanted to fire him but couldn't/didn't. From some of the weird comments by HR I think he had something in his record that meant he could potentially sue the company. But with all the documentation they decided they had solid footing. When I told him he was fired his response was "finally!" He'd been trying to get fired! He wanted to collect unemployment so he had time to find himself. Yes, he said that.

My step daughter done the the same. We fight to get her out the door every morning. Then she rock up there at whatever time. Then she go to the sick bay. The school would ring her father. And she say she was sick and beg to go home.

She walk out of class and just wonder around the play ground looking at her phone. Then eventually she just stop going at all.

What more can you do if they refuse to leave the house. She very stubborn. You cant just grab them by the the hair throw them out the door and  say go to school. Especially when they in there teens.

But she never finished school. The school never seemed to really care. Because my husband did ring up and discussed this with the school on numerous times.

They were just like some kids are like this. Then they offered counseling for her but the school never followed up with it.

I had to work my husband had to work. So we couldnt spend all our time making sure she go to school everyday

What could we do quit our jobs just to shove her out the door every morning. We got Bill's to pay. Like we not happy she didnt finish school she hasnt done anything the last 4 years with her life since then like get a job or anything. So we just got her lounging round the house doing nothing. You can yell and scream jump up and down try and point her in the right direction all you want. But she just doesnt care.

We even kicked her out made her live with her drop kick mother for awhile. Her attitude still didnt change it just got worse. My step daughter no matter what you do or how you punish her. she will not let you win.

Kids today are snowflakes, a term I initially despised, but as my children get older - I realize it really does fit and it perfectly describes this generation of children.

My son has failed every year of school since 7th grade. I sh*t you not. Every year. He is in 11th grade now.  We tried to hold him back every single year and have been told he is "bright" and it would be "detrimental" to his well being. The solution for the school was just to have him get a lesser diploma. The same "diploma" my disabled daughter will receive, mind you. A perfectly healthy, able bodied boy who is actually very smart and capable will receive the same diploma my daughter will. My daughter is developmentally disabled. She is 17 with the mind of someone half her age and I swear she is my only child who tries hard at anything.  My son is perfectly fine with all of it.  Just whatever- as long as he doesn't have to put any effort in. He had a part time job working 3 days a week for a grand total of 15 hours weekly. He had to quit that because of "stress". Again, I'm not joking. This is my life. He kissed his chance of us contributing to a car away with that move.

My youngest son cannot read. Years of me fighting him, paying for tutors (I always knew it was behavioral) and finally, I break down and I take him to get evaluated thinking maybe he is dyslexic and I'm wrong- or something.... NOPE. The kid just doesn't feel like it the doctor told me. So, this past summer I spent an hour a day making the kid read. One hour a day. He went from a kindergarten level to a fourth grade level in two months. I was pretty proud of that. Anyway, he tells his guidance counselor at school all about how mommy made him read and how he "hates" me. They called CPS and reported me for ABUSE for "putting pressure on him and creating anxiety". The schools built these kids. It's out of our hands. I bet every one of us are thinking we will end up supporting these kids until they are 35. I've just accepted that in about a decade everything will begin to fall apart around us because these idiots will be running things.

I won't touch on my other daughter. I could write a book about her.

We also live in NY btw. I read your blogs and laugh uncontrollably because I really do get it. Believe me, I do.
