O/T any one ever used trundle bed? How did it work out for your kids/skids

So SS4 is growing out of his toddler bed and SO wants to get trundle bed that way ss3 can sleep there too. bunk beds are just too dangerous because both kids love to jump. I don't know anyone who has ever used trundle bed. Any suggestion/info would be helpful.

They were 4-5. They loved them! They did occasionally play a bit longer than I desired before sleep time, but it wasn't a huge issue!

I used a trundle bed for my daughters when they were 5 & 2 until they were about 7 & 4. It worked when they were younger since the bed was only used to sleep in, but as they got older, they like to "hang out" on their bed and this caused some friction.

we use one with Sd(15) and BS(2) we make them share a room she only comes EOW if that and we got a trundle that pops up that way neither one of them sleeps that close to the floor. Our BS(9) has on under his bed that doesn't pop up and he has his friends sleep there when they stay over. It works outs really nice.

Yep!
I'd highly suggest getting one that raises, though, to normal bed height. Some just stay floor level.

I had a day bed when I was a kid with one that pops up. We turned that thing into a roller coaster jumping on it while popping it down. Be careful with those kind, we broke a friends arm when she didn't move it in time for the collapse!

Yes we used one for dd and SD. They were 10-14. It failed miserably.

I thought it was perfect when SD wasn't there it could POP down when she was there it was up from the time she came.

However we received an email from BM stating how hard it was for SD. Really? Their room was 15x 20. We did a trundle for more play space. We also opened up how poor SD had no privacy everyone would go into that room to play. The other kids rooms were 8x8.

On a side note what bothered me SD and SS shared room at BM so when she was complaining about eowe privacy she had none at her moms either. SD is 5 years older than SS.

My brother and I shared a room with a trundle bed for more than a year until mom and dad got our bunk beds and other bedroom furniture. (I was 10-11 and he was 4-5)

It worked just fine.

hi,
By transitioning from a crib to a regular bed you eliminate the extra step of moving the child from the toddler bed to the regular bed. By going straight to a regular bed you only have to deal with any emotional attachment the child has with the bed once. Many people feel it is a waste of money to invest in toddler beds and therefore go straight for the regular bed. The regular bed may also slow the child down in getting in and out of the bed since it is higher off the floor.
