Small comfort...I'll take it!

I don't have horror stories like everyone else, but I do have my own frustrations...

Everyone loves SD23. No, really. EVERYONE LOVES HER. She is pretty, and she is talented, and she is doing well in her chosen career. No argument there. She is also arrogant, and thinks she knows everything -- normal, I guess, at that age. Doesn't mean I have to like it. And she's nasty and passive aggressive with me, but I figure that just comes with the territory -- she feels she needs to be defensive of her mom, who didn't want the divorce, so, okay. I get it. I don't like it, but I get it. I don't like that she lives with us, but she's not around much, so I abide.

I've accepted that everyone loves her. So imagine my delight last night at a big family dinner. She was going on and on about how wonderful she is (as she does), and I happened to look at her older cousin, who I adore anyway, such a kind, smart young guy. He was there with his girlfriend, and I looked up and I caught that look on their face. The look that says, "I am so sick of her shit, who does she think she's kidding?"

And I felt SO MUCH BETTER Smile

LOL. I'm not there yet, but I sure do think a lot of those things!

She is just marvelous. Really! At everything! I'd like to blame it on the age, but I sure wasn't that way at 23...

If she is 23 and is doing well in her chosen carrer, why does she need to live with you and your DH? At 23, she should be out on her own, just MHO tho.

We re-up on the lease in two weeks, I'm hoping against hope she will not be on it. She is not really living here, but she still has a room here. I think that needs to end, don't you?

Now, she is not here often, thank God, but she still has a room. A room that we, frankly, need.

people who really are wonderful don't tell everyone how wonderful they are. i don't care what sd has going for her, she sounds insecure. i have an ex who was always talking about how smart he is. he's actually a dumb ass. the fury he would display over things like me knowing the definition of a word that he didn't was unreal, and that's just a drop in the bucket of his antics when his superior intelligence over all other humans was disproved.

EXACTLY. You have put your finger on it, exactly. Clearly she has some self-esteem issues or she wouldn't always be crowing about how wonderful she is.

Alas, I'm not her therapist, so I don't have to give a rat's ass about her self-esteem issues Smile
