Natural Consequences
I posted last night that DD got her pet. Mr Floppy, a lop eared bunny with ear size of epic proportions joined the family yesterday. Adopted from the local humane society.
She asked once last night if he could sleep with her. Nope. He sleeps in his cage. Well apparently at some point in the middle of the night DD got Mr Floppy out of his cage and took him to bed with her.
Natural consequences reign: she woke up this morning to a bed soaked in bunny pee (so were her pj's, oh yes and portion of her hair) and of course little pellets of poo everywhere. Mr Floppy loved her pillow. So much he chewed it up, releasing about 6 million feathers and built himself a nest in the middle of it. This nest was pretty well contained, not "too" messy until DD woke up, realized she had been peed on and freaked out. In her scramble to get out of the puddle of pee feathers went flying.
Yes, dry feathers against wet hair and Pj's. The picture I took this morning will bring me great joy when she is older, has kids of her own and grandma can show them the morning their ma woke up looking tarred and feathered.
After she cleaned up the mess, took a shower and put her sheets in the wash she came to me asking if she was in trouble or "grounded". Nope. I really don't think anything I could do to you would be worse than waking up in a puddle of piss!

OMG that is hilarious!! Well I thinked she learned her lesson!!
Exactly: she definately
Exactly: she definately learned not to sleep with the bunny. OMG the sight of her this morning still has me giggling!
I wish we could get a bunny
I wish we could get a bunny but SD15 murders small animals-she has killed 3 hamsters so far so I cannot subject a poor innocent bunny to her.
BD3 and DD10 really want another hamster.

I had a neighbor that used to walk theirs on a lease and the bunny loved it!!
Don't you love it when
Don't you love it when actions that you warned about come back and kick them in the butt! I swear I am on auto repeat when any of the kids come crying:
Me: Were you doing something you weren't supposed to?
Them: Yes
Me: Then there you go. Maybe you will follow rules next time. If you are going to wine about something you did to yourself, go to your room, I don't want to listen to it.
That. is. awesome. Poor girl,
That. is. awesome. Poor girl, bet she learned a lesson.
FYI, bunnies can be trained to use a litterbox and it's not hard at all. I took in a stray bunny someone had dumped and the neighborhood kids caught one day (you know for sure it's tame if kids can catch it). Anyway, within a week it was litterbox trained and did a great job. Occasional accidents sure, but overall did great.
We had a bunny when I was a kid that we walked on a leash and harness. He loved it. OK, now I want a bunny.
How do you litter train a
How do you litter train a bunny?
I initially kept it confined
I initially kept it confined in the bathroom. Then I put a shallow pan in there with shredded newspaper, in the spot it had eliminated previously. Bunnies are creatures of habit typically. Given enough living room, they will choose a toilet area where they ALWAYS poop and pee. You're just basically letting them pick that spot and then putting the litterbox there. After a few days I let it out to roam my (small, one bedroom) apartment. It had ONE accident in a corner, at which I chased it straight back to the bathroom and closed the door. Never had another problem, although admittedly it was only at my house for a week. But I'd say I had it littertrained within three days.
LOL! OMG that is the best
