I'm finding more and more articles popping up on the wonderful world of step-parenting. I guess it's because this year, 2011, the number of step-families has overtaken the number of intact families...

The only way to "stick it out" and "survive" this shit is basically to shut yourself down until the "kiddies" get the fuck out of your house.

Then MAYBE...just MAYBE you can hope to rekindle what you had when you married the dope that sat back and let all this crap happen to start with.

Smile I'm full of daisies and sunshine right now. haha

If nothing else, it really helps knowing that many people all around the world are experiencing the same shit called step parenting.

I always enjoy reading the comments section. Here is a comment from Anonymous, London who should get herself over to Step Talk ASAP.

I'm pleased that the topic is getting more attention recently. However, it annoys me that the articles put the onus on the stepmother to make it all work. In addition to being blatantly sexist, it's completely inaccurate. The bioparent has to set the standards of behavior and have the spine to enforce it. The bioparent has to get in the game...everyday, all the time, day in and day out. Otherwise, Mary Poppins herself will be eaten alive and spit out by the skids.
