DH's kid is pissed at me. She wanted to spend a few days with a girlfriend so they could go to the county fair. Cool...fine...whatever. However her girlfriend's BioDad would be picking them up tonight and taking them to his house. Again fine, except we take DH's kid back to Uberskank on Friday and DH needed the Biodad's address.

So the deal was, get the address and she can go. Last night we're on our way to drop her off and DH said, Kid....did you get Biodad's address? She said no, that her friend had called her BD and SM and neither one has called her back. Can you say big LIE. So DH starts to get angry but was still driving her out to her friend. :?

Even though I disengaged, I couldn't take it because she was pulling the typical 15 year old, snotty teenager move and I knew how to fix it. I turned to DH, because we hadn't hit the highway yet and we were still close to home and said, "Just take her back to our house, if she didn't hold up her end of the agreement, then why let her go?"

The temperature from the back seat dropped about 20 degrees. DH said....no, I don't want to do that. I said I understand, however since you don't know where the BD lives, then let's pick her up Thursday after work instead of on Friday. The temp dropped another 30 degrees because this entire visit revolved around her being at county fair today with her friends.

DH said...I like that idea better. He says to the back seat, Kid.....since you and your friend can't get me her Biodad's address I'll be picking you up after work Thursday instead.

Less than five minutes later DH's kid pipes up....I have an address for you. DH said great, forward it to my phone. Then he asked his kid how she was able to get it so quickly after not being able to get it for the last 4 days. I couldn't help it...in my bitchiest tone of voice I said.....see what kind of results you can get when you properly motivate an uncooperative teenager? Man oh man....if looks could kill! }:)

On the way home DH asked me how I was able to get an address so quickly out of her. My response "Because I changed the game on you both with my suggestion. She didn't follow through and I suggested not letting her have what she wanted. The minute you agreed with my solution to the problem she realized she was screwed unless she acted quickly. You may want to consider changing the game on her when she starts playing dumb. If she's too irresponsible to get something simple accomplished, then maybe you should stop considering letting her do things with her friends until she learns to follow through."

He didn't really agree with me, but he didn't disagree with me either.
