Blog Hog Alert! For Those Of You Who Are Kidding Themselves
into thinking that their skids are not "college material" and won't be attending college (and thus the 50% mandate that is in most DDs won't apply) THINK AGAIN!
Today's colleges are a dumbed down, remedial grade and highschool money making racket.
Even if Junior made all Fs from kindergarten right through 12th grade; is in a reading group called "The Slugs". . .has been diagnosed with severe (insert syndrome of the week here) and has been labeled "learning disabled" he WILL be going to COLLEGE. This is most especially true in the BLUE states of the U.S. and Canada!!
These colleges/universities LOVE LOVE LOVE the fact that Junior will be taking SIX years to graduate in what should be two or four years. They salivate over the fact that mommy and daddy keep bailing coddled Junior out semester after semester with mega bucks. After all, a repeated class, a repeated semester means mo'money, mo' money, Mo' MONEY!! for that "school."
I'm convinced this is why then need to bring back trade schools not unlike the European set up. Not every kid should be in college. So many kids that aren't college material clog up the halls just for the sake of the parent's wallet.
It's not unlike the CS system. Keep raking in the $$$$ and in the meantime, who cares if the kid has a quality relationship with the CS payor or not??!!

i believe you are 100%
i believe you are 100% correct. however, dh has already said he is NOT paying for either skids college. if they want to go (seriously doubt) then they can qualify for grants, get a loan or whatever it takes. and i believe he'll stand by it, plus i handle the finances, i'll just tell him we don't have the money and bm won't even take them to doctor b/c of that $5 co-pay, so i KNOW she won't contribute.
Foolish GG just signed his
Foolish GG just signed his life away and agreed to 50% of all college expenses for all three. When I asked him about it, he hadn't even read the document; just blindly agreed to it under the "give the Behemoth everything she wants and more, then she'll play fair with the kids" model.
Hopefully I'll be long gone by then. Brainiac is 14 so I have at least another 4 years before she starts milking him for that. For GG's sake, he'd better practice his "sugar mamma wooing tactics" right now. This "sugar mama" is on her way out the door.
this is how concerned dh or
this is how concerned dh or bm were concerning skid college ~ it's not even mentioned in the dd. also says cs ends when skid turns 18, graduates hs or gets married..... WTF?
I believe that's common for
I believe that's common for Florida. Here in NYS it's 21 no matter what. And in the DD it says that CS continues until skid is 21 or graduates from college which ever comes LAST!!!
The mediator even told GG not to sign it and get representation as it was totally lopsided. But he went ahead and did it anyway!
he's a fucking idiot
he's a fucking idiot
Friggin' lucky. The Behemoth
Friggin' lucky. The Behemoth will jam them into most likely community college and make GG pay through the nose. . .
"Child support stops when a child reaches the age of 21 or is earlier emancipated. The parents may agree to support their children beyond the age of 21, for example, until the children graduate from college." (EN: The dumbass GG DID agree to support his children beyond the age of 21 until the child graduates from college)
Headline from Upstate NY Newspaper:
"World's Oldest "Child" Finally Throws in the Towel After Giving It the Old College Try"
AP: Prince Hygiene, a 37 year old man finally decided to quit college after receiving an unprecedented stream of less than 1.0 average for an amazing 19 years. As to why this went on for so long, Prince's biological mother, Mrs. Behemoth Onhubbyfour was quoted as saying: "It's kept a steady stream of Child Support income from my notorious adulterous 1st husband, who violated our marriage vows almost 36 years ago for approximately 3 minutes and 37 seconds."
CRAZY!
CRAZY!
'...who violated our marriage
'...who violated our marriage vows almost 36 years ago for approximately 3 minutes and 37 seconds.'
OMG!! 3 minutes & 37 seconds! You are TOO funny!
Actually.....I think I lucked
Actually.....I think I lucked out on this subject!
Neither DH or Uberskank covered college expenses in the CO or the 10 million supplemental judgments. I think Uberskank by-passed it knowing this would be the one area where she wouldn't benefite, but DH's kid would. Uberskank would then be on the hook for 50% of the expenses, and that is just not what having kids is about to her.....to her Kids are her Little Money Makers not her Money Takers!!!
DH has already explained to his kid, I can't afford to pay for you to go to college. But IF you go to college and fill out the right paperwork before you graduate from HS, then I will pay CS directly to you until you're 21. If you fail classes, don't take enough credits or drop out then you don't get any CS from me. He has also encouraged her to join the Air Force to help with tuition (and give her some much needed structure and discipline). He's also been giving her suggestions for grants and scholarships. She was recently told she's being considered to be an exchange student her junior year (she's a freshman now).
So maybe, just maybe this kid is pulling her head out of her butt.
As long Pickle your DH did
As long Pickle your DH did not put in the divorce decree that he would pay for college then you are done.
The same happened with my DH - BM wanted him to pay for college and he said no fu**ing way - thank God because SS is smart and is applying to a $51,000 a year school I would have kicked the sh*t out of DH if he had signed something about paying college - we are going to help SS but not to the tune of $25,000 for 4 years no way!!
I agree. For taxpayer
I agree. For taxpayer supported schools the European model should apply. Test and qualify or you don't get in.
If a kid decides that they want to make college happen there are traditional private schools and for profit private schools for them.
Taxpayer money should not pay for higher education that is not at C or better performance regardless of how needy the kid is. One D and the kid should be eternally banned from tax payer education support.
One D and the parents should be off the hook for any college liabilities under a CO or a Divorce Decree. If the BPs want to continue helping ... fine but the legal obligation under a CO should end with a single D.
I learned my lesson. Mom and dad paid for my first two years then cut me off due to my lack of focus on school and over focus on girls, night clubs, skiing, fast cars, mountain sports, etc..... I paid for the middle 7 and when I proved how serious I was mom and dad stepped back in with significant support for the last two years of my 11yr undergrad career.
They owed me nothing. I am eternally grateful for their support and help but I never expected it or felt like I deserved it.
I paid for grad school via benefits from my employer.
Good tool to determine if
Good tool to determine if your state required CS to continue beyond 18yo including paying for college.
