Smoking in the car.
As I was pulling out of a restaurant just after dropping off SD to go with her whore of a mother, guess who drives by. Now I know the law is NO smoking with children in the car and even if this law wasn't passed in our province common sence would be not to do it anyway. So BM drives by me as she is clearly lighting up with SD5 and her new baby in the back. I tried to pull out behind her so I could get her lisence plate # so I could report her but she ended up too far ahead. When I got home I was furious but my SO didn't seem as upset about the situation. We are both smokers as well but would never smoke in our house or car let alone with the kids present. What would you do? I feel so bad for sd because im sure she does other things in her house that aren't acceptable but we have no solid proof..

is there anything you CAN do?
is there anything you CAN do? without hard core proof, what can you do?
Can you use a cell phone to
Can you use a cell phone to snap off a quick pic of her in the car smoking with the kids? Might need to take a few just to get all angles. I'm really not sure how to prove it besides using a cell phone cam
I don't think much you can
I don't think much you can do-personally I'm against more laws/legislation concerning our civil liberties stripped...no matter how wrong I think it is.
I agree you should be able to
I agree you should be able to do whatever you want on or in you're own property. But the kids really don't have a choice? And it's not like im discriminating against smokers since I do as well. I guess people just feel differently about it. Its their dicision to smoke when they are of age and I wouldn't hold it agianst them. But right now their really isnt a choice.
I know, Am I overreacting?
I know, Am I overreacting? Maybe I shouldn't care so much saince she IS her daughter and not mine. Turning a blind eye is hard for me to do It's really none of my buisness about her baby being present, but the poor thing is the same age as my boy. They are both only a couple of months and it makes me so sad.
Are you actually defending
Are you actually defending smoking during pregnancy? Well, you win some you lose some. I don't think I could sleep at night, but everyone has an opinion I guess. No offence there wouldn't have to be a law enforced if people gave a shit.
I have 4 sisters, I was the
I have 4 sisters, I was the baby and mom decided to take up smoking in the wonderful late 60s while she was pregnant with me. My 4 sisters were all born quite healthy at around 7-8 lbs and no health problems to speak of... me? well, I was born around 2 lbs less than my sisters and had a great childhood with asthma and continue with more severe lung problems into adulthood. I truly believe all of this was due to my mom smoking while she was pregnant.
I don't have any ill feelings towards her. Back then, they just didn't know.
But people smoking today while pregnant or around kids? There is no excuse. Kids don't have a choice. You wanna subject yourself to the poisons, go right ahead. But it's sad that parents are so inconsiderate and selfish to subject their kids because they are too stupid to realize that smoking in the car and house WILL affect your kids, no matter how much you try to tell yourself you are blowing it out the window.
My SS comes home every other weekend reeking like cigarette smoke. It's just disgusting. Stupid, stupid people.
And I'm an ex smoker. Quit long before my son came around. I realized after 13 years of smoking just what a nasty habit it was.
As a smoker myself I agree
As a smoker myself I agree and disagree-even in a moving car w/open windows it's easy for smoke to fill the back...and the homes even worse.
I smoke-I strongly opposed any laws/legislation about personal property/cars/homes and even private establishments such as restaurants, etc...
BUT I personally find it unethical and dangerous to smoke in the house or car w/my kids-that's just my choice. I do kind of frown on those that do this even though I'm a smoker. They do have no choice then to live in that house/travel in that car and as a parent we should be mindful of that since the evidence DOES show the dangers of second hand smoke....shoot I know even particles on my clothing is harmful but still not as bad.
Agreed to everything you say.
Agreed to everything you say. Im not a hard ass, or a square. Because Im really not. I knew this question would stir up something opinions while I was writting it. I guess I feel like when SD is at my house I take care of her like she was my own, and its hard to see her be put in situations that I would never do for her well being. But no one said being a step mom was easy.
all i have to say, is we all
all i have to say, is we all choose our poisons, if it's not smoking it'll be something else (even excessive pop can turn into a poison, or too much chocolate, or too many greasy foods)
take your pick, we all do subconsiouly
no kids don't have a choice, it's up to the PARENTS to limit their food intake, greasies, how much second hand smoke, etc
kids are always the loser's
Since when did you live in my
Since when did you live in my world? No seriously you must be talking about my bm apparently it doesnt get any better when the kids get older.
