Why do I have to deal with BM's cat?
So when I moved in with FDH and SS and SD there were two cats and a dog. I HATE cats and never had a dog before. The dog barks constantly but since we bought him a bark collar, I can deal with that. One of the cats used to piss and shit everywhere and then went outside and got hit by a car. Call me a terrible person, but I wasn't a bit sad. Now the other cat has picked up where the first cat left off and my house smells like cat piss and I am constantly checking the corners for "presents." Have I mentioned that I HATE CATS?
The best part? The cat is BM's. She took it for like two weeks and then discovered she was pregnant and gave it back. Ok, well the baby is almost five months old now. Get your *&*^)ing cat out of my house! FDH keeps "forgetting" to bring it up to her. I know that if I bring it up, I am not going to be very nice about it so in the interest of keeping the peace I'm staying quiet. But if I come home from a long day at work to a steaming pile of cat crap on my bedroom floor one. more. time. where the cat lives is going to become a moot point.

I tell you what, I completely
I tell you what, I completely sympathise! There were 3 cats left here.. with a promise to get rid of them, so far they've brought fleas in the house and I've had to bomb it and shelled out a heap of money to get flea collars and flea treaments etc..
1 one of the cats is in REALLY crap health.. it needs to be put down.. it can't eat..
Her reason was.. I'm moving and they wont let 3 cats in the house.. WELL DONT MOVE TO A CAT FREE HOUSE THEN!! Completely sympathise! I've said I want the cats gone, or I'll take them to get put down.
I love cats, I have three but
I love cats, I have three but if any of them started pooping outside the box or peeing outside it the guilty one would be gone. I actually got rid of one a few years ago who pissed on my couch. I ruled out any health issue that may have been treated and took her to a shelter.
We own the house. Believe
We own the house. Believe me, I know that smell is hard to get out and that is why I'm so pissed (pardon the pun). I'm not mean to the cat, I ignore her other than to feed her and clean her litter box every single day. I know it's clean because I'm the only one that cleans it, no one else except FDH will bother and he works two jobs so I don't think it's fair that he has to do it. We've taken the cat to the vet (at our expense, which is even more irritating) and there is nothing wrong with her that $25 a bag food won't cure but you know what? Not my cat.
The dog is a pug mixed with something, we don't know. He gets plenty of exercise in our fenced yard, he just likes to bark at things that move. I've seen him bark at flies. He just likes the sound of his voice. The neighbors do not, hence the bark collar.
Ha ha, I have tried a few
Ha ha, I have tried a few times to just leave the crap lying around until someone, preferably one of the little angels, cleans it up, but this cat has some serious problems and it smells FOUL. She is moving to a new apartment in the next week or so and if she tries to pull the whole "Oh I can't have cats there either" thing I think I have FDH convinced that we are tying her up outside a shelter. I'm done.
Even funnier...right after I posted this blog entry I heard SD8 downstairs say, "Ew, I think Princess peed in this corner again, all this paper is wet." OMFG I'm so done with animals.
Oh for pete's sake I didn't
Oh for pete's sake I didn't mean it literally. Lighten up. The cat has been to the vet who has told us that there is nothing wrong with her, she is just ornery. And she has no such problems at BM's house, so I know that she is just a bitch of a cat.
Ohhhh that makes sense. LOL.
Ohhhh that makes sense. LOL. I wish I could just take her in and get her put down but FDH would never go for it. The cat has an attachment to SD8 and while SD8 doesn't care about the cat now, take care of it, feed it, clean its box etc. I'm sure that the minute it was gone it would be the biggest crisis ever. Not to mention the two other cats that have died in the past two years. (One hit by a car, one fell out a window.) With odds like that, I suppose the problem will take care of itself soon enough...? But you're right, if she wanted the freakin' thing she would have gotten it by now.
I volunteer at a cat shelter,
I volunteer at a cat shelter, depending on the age and overall health of this cat I'd take it to a shelter and say you found it (as long as it's not microchipped) and tell the kids it got out and must have run away. I don't believe in putting animals that are healthy down. This cat may be fine in another environment without kids and/or a dog and it may need to be an only pet. They get to know the cats some before they adopt them out so the cat would be better off as well as you. Cat urine is aweful to deal with.
and the shelter I volunteer
and the shelter I volunteer at is a no kill shelter so if they can't adopt it out it becomes a resident cat,
The one I volunteer at is on
The one I volunteer at is on that list Being on death row for pits is awful. They can be good dogs its just the bad breeders and bad owners.
And there is one on that list
And there is one on that list that is about 5 minutes away...now if I could only get them to believe that the cat that is afraid to be in the same room as an open (to the outside world) door ran away in a blizzard... }:)
I don't want the cat to die a horrible death, I'm just tired of her being my problem. And I'm tired of the open box of animal waste in my living room. I'm sure she would be fine somewhere quieter but hello, five kids! Not a soothing atmosphere.
find out if the shelter is a
find out if the shelter is a no kill shelter some are then the cat doesn't have to die a horrible death
what if the cat ran away?what
what if the cat ran away?what would happen?
Can you take her to the vet
Can you take her to the vet to be euthed and bring her back home and put her in her bed so the kids think she just died in her sleep?
For pete's sake - pack up
For pete's sake - pack up that damn cat - put it in a cat carrier - pack up it's litter pan (without litter and clean it), and any toys or anything else it has and SEND IT BACK! Next time the kid's go back to BM's SEND IT BACK. PUT it in the car yourself. all of our DHs seem to have something kind of thing with NOT pissing off BM but yet they have no issue with pissing us off!! I love it!! Take care of it yourself - and if he tries to take it out of your car say - fine...it's going to the shelter. bottom line.
I didn't have any input in
I didn't have any input in taking the cat back. I still kind of feel like this isn't truly my house, so when FDH said she was bringing the cat back I didn't think I had any say in the deal. That's how it works around here I guess. Sadly, I will probably end up keeping this cat because SD once in a while wants to have her around. And I really don't have any say in the matter. Sucks.
