Mrs. Brutallyhonest
BF has now become DH. From previous posts, we had been discussing marriage after being together 7 years, living together 6. BF/DH surprised me with a proposal on 10/10 and suggested we elope the following weekend, which we did. Only the dog was present for the ceremony. It avoided family drama and I really hate dressing up.
I'm still worried about SD17.5 and her ability to create drama in our life, but am so excited to finally have all the benefits that go along with drama I had long endured.

Wow!!! Congratulations MRS. B!! I'm so happy for you both!!
"I am so excited to finally have all the benefits that go along with drama I had long endured." LMAO!! I agree with you 100% and couldn't have said it better myself.
I myself have been in a long-term relationship with my BF - dating for 6.5 years and living together for about 2 years, so we are in a similar situation. I think the SAME way as you about marrying him!! If I've dealt with the drama & luggage that he brought to our relationship for almost 7 years now - i.e. FSD16 & FSSstb13 - who were 9 & 6 when I met him, the 50/50 true joint legal & physical custody, the massive CS$$ that he pays BM for the skids, etc..., I think I deserve SOME LEGAL AND OTHER BENEFITS that will come when I'm his WIFE!!!
I think there should be a special place in heaven for people like us, Mrs. Brutallyhonest!! Congratulations again!!! Please fill us in on everyone's reaction - would love to hear about it!
