We have my skids the whole month of July. I love having everyone here for an extended period of time but was starting to need a break. DH is still unemployed and I'm working 10 hour days. The kids are staying up later since it's summer time and I don't mind that but I didn't realize how much it was cutting into my solo time with DH.

With the four kids on different visitation schedules we still somehow usually end up with one night a week (usually Thursdays) with no kids and that kind of turned into our 'date night' even if all we did was stay home, order take-out and watch a movie. It was still quiet time with no kiddos. I know how valuable DH's time with his kids is to him and I wouldn't dream of saying anything to him about our lack of solo time when he only gets one full month out of 12 with his kiddos to be a 'normal family' with them.

BUT, apparently DH was missing our time too. My boys left to go to their dad's last night and without me knowing anything about it, DH arranged it so that his kids would go to my in-laws house the same night! All of the kids will be gone until Monday morning! I was so excited and so happy that DH made this happen! We don't have money in the budget to go anywhere but we stayed up late and had ice cream sundaes (that we made while wearing very little!) and watched Zombieland which we both have been wanting to see! We stayed up until 2am having OUR TIME and then stayed in bed until 2:00 this afternoon! We finally got out of bed and had breakfast about 2:30 and then cleaned up the house a bit, watched some mindless t.v., planned the dinner menu and grocery list and talked about plans for the rest of the month. It's been a blissful time and I'm feeling VERY blessed! Tonight we will probably order take-out and watch our TrueBlood while it's actually on instead of having to wait for the kids to go to bed!!
