Do your SKs ever call you mom?
Dudebug and I were waiting in the car while DH exchanged the propane tank. Dudebug started to ask a question and w/o thinking just said, "Mom, why is .....?" He stopped and I looked at him. Poor guy had a stricken look on his face, like he had done something awful and was expecting the worst.
I answered his question then said "Ya know, Dudebug, lots of kids call their stepmoms "mom". And you can too, either on purpose or accident. Its ok." He said "ok", but still calls me TheCharm.

My SS does
I've been mom to him for about 2 years now. He gets in trouble with the Wookie, but doesn't seem to care too much. My SD occasionally calls me mom, Mom-may, or by my name. Whatever she calls me, it's comfortable to her and to me.

No, they only call me by my name
My step kids and step grandkids only call me by my name (step kids actually have lots of names for me, imagine that!). I would have thought that maybe I would have gotten called grandma by the step-grandkids, especially since one of them is living with me, but no. The step kids even try to get my kids to call me by my first name. I have made it clear to my kids that I am "Mom".
Depends on current situation with BM
DH and I have been married for 2 years but together for almost 5 years. My BS12 calls DH 'dad' but skids call me Patty. After we got married SD started calling me mom but was quickly corrected by BM...but it was not only ok but mandatory for skids to call her "wife" mom "m - - - -". I don't push the issue. Lately skids have said "mom and dad want us to do...." or "mom and dad said we have to..." it also helps that DH and I say "mom wants...." or "dad would like...". At first skids would say "mom"? DH would say yes, she is "j's mom and your step mom so that makes her mom"...they seemed to be okay with that. It also helped that we now have a daughter together and this is an issue all three of our kids (SD9, SS7 BS12) have brought up...they asked what was baby "J' going to call us...and we say well Im mom and DH is dad so she'll call us mom and dad....so I think having her is going to actually "blend" our family that much more.
my ss6
calls me mom in public, the first time it happened, I didn't realize he was talking to me until he came up to me tugginh on my shirt. Gave me warm fuzzies.
I think his bm has got onto him about it though, he hasn't done it in a LONG time!
she's evil
Read my blog from a couple of weeks ago
SD8 asked me if she could call me mom. We're in a little different situation than most because her mom has died, but it was still shocking to me that she asked me that. She did it for a few days but has since gone back to jojo.
Both
Scooty usually calls me by my first name, but every now and then she'll just be yammering away and call me mom. She'll catch herself and say "oops, i mean luckykell". And then she'll go on like it never happened. Scooty is very close to BM, and I know that's a line that I am to never cross. But it is nice knowing that if she makes the occassional psychological slip, then part of he does veiw me in the "mom" roll. But I will let her call me whatever she wants, that is her decision.
"Live well, Love much, Laugh often."
My skids do.
Their BM told them to call her boyfriend daddy so when DH finally got his visitation they were so confused they called me Mommy in defense...and it stuck. I have always told them that BM is their mom and they can call me Casper if they want but they still continue to call me Mom.
one of mine do
SS9 calls me mom. He has even done it while talking to me on the phone with BM hovering over him. I can only imagine the look on her face. I still tear up EVERY time he calls me mom. But, I have been with him since he was 6 months old and he tells me i am what a mom is supposed to be.
Making the decision to have a child is momentous~ It is to decide forever to have your heart go walking outside of your body~
Both of my skids call me
Both of my skids call me mom. SS started first then about 2 weeks later SD started to call me mom. I told them it was THEIR choice not mine, not DH's and not BM's...just THEIR choice whether they decide to call me mom or by my name. When BM is around they call me by my name though otherwise she throws a fit and yells at them for calling me mom.
