OT - Anyone Else Ever Read STFU Parents??

TwoOfUs's picture

Has anyone else heard of STFU Parents? Basically, it was a reader-submitted site where people sent in the most obnoxious posts from parents and she posted and made fun of them. She had categories like "Mommyjacking" (posts that were about something else but a mom or dad got on there and made it all about her/his kid) and "Sancitmommies" (posts where moms or dads went on and on about how good they are.) Hilarious stuff.

I don't think this blog is active anymore, but I used to waste hours reading posts on this site. For my sanity.

I had a lot of friends who were having babies 8 or 9 years ago and this helped me process what was happening to me.

Methinks a lot of our BMs would be good candidates. If you want to waste a couple hours today and laugh your head off...

That's hilarious.

Nothing bugs me more than social media moms bragging about all the stuff their baby/toddler does. I saw a post the other day where a mom was genuinely worried because her 18 month old was only saying a few words and didn't "do" anything like get themselves dressed, etc.

SO MANY MOMS just went on and on about THEIR little angel and how they do ALL THESE THINGS and not one person thought about the original poster and how this might make her feel. Plus... Excuse me but your 16-month-old dresses themselves, knows the alphabet, and is starting to read? I call bullshit lol

I hate it when parents dont get the concept that their child is really only that special to them and legitimately seem to think the rest of the world sees them as they do.

lol.

I had a good friend (a dad) post a video of his barely three-year-old learning how to "read" on her own. She says one line and he looks at the camera...eyebrows raised in amazement, face a picture of pure joy. Gasps. "Did you get that??!!!"

He posts this, bursting with pride. It's always been important to him to be seen as "smart" and now it seems he's passing the affliction onto his children.

I didn't have the heart to tell him that she clearly wasn't reading but merely repeating a line she'd heard him read hundreds of times. That's fine...that's how reading starts...as memorization. But chill, dude. Recognize it for what it is.

I love this blog. It tackles it all.

Oversharers. The My Kid is so Special Parents. The Parenting is so, so, so hard and you'll never understand! crowd. The buzzkills. The MOTYs. The more-organic-than-thou mommies.

Etc. No one is safe!
