Why bios don't hear what we hear.
Today I finally explained to DH that he doesn't hear what I do from YSS19.
You know the way that parents of small fretting kids don't hear their whining in the same way non parents do? Yes, well that doesn't change as the kid gets older. Bios have a filter that non bios don't.
I hear cursing. He filters.
Do any of you agree?
It certainly made DH stop and think.

Oh, yes. We went through all
Oh, yes. We went through all this Year One. SD13 would do something hideous and he woudn't react at all, let alone rein her in. I'd be in shock. I'd mull it over then hours or days later I'd ask him about it. He'd exclaim, "Why didn't you tell me?!?!!!" Which increased my shock because the answer was always, "Tell you? It happened 18 inches from your nose!"
After months of this frustration we finally concluded he has a filter (his own word) when it comes to her. Luckily for me, he asked me to help him with that. I can forgive him for some egregious parenting errors when it turns out he has what might be termed an actual handicap like this. So this realization helped our marriage tremendously.
Yep. Hopefully it will help
Yep.
Hopefully it will help us too. I'm riding a very thin edge of sanity about it all at the moment. }:)
