It was a good day until...OT
I was having a wonderful morning - slept in, had plans to do stuff around the house, etc until my boss called. He said he was stopping over at my house. I work from home. I got my walking papers today. I guess the market (I work in real estate) is so bad they cannot justify paying me anymore. Bummer. I got a week's severence pay plus my paycheck for last week plus my vacation time that I have accured. I am so clueless on what to do now. I have not been unemployed for almost 12 years. I am not even totally sure how to apply for unemployment.
One good thing, I do have another job doing taxes that starts in January so for now I am going to stay home and do house stuff, bake, and catch up on my crafts I am making for Christmas gifts.

That Sucks
So sorry that you no longer have a job now, what a way to start the day. At least you have a short term plan to stay at home now that christmas isn't too far away and taxes in January.
Keep your chin up hun, something will come along. You are obviously a smart woman to be doing taxes and worked in real estate so I'm sure with your experience something is sure to come up for you.
**BIG HUGS**
Oh no!
We are in real estate too, hanging by a thread . . . this blasted economy!! Be sure to file for unemployment anyway, it will take a few weeks to come in and you do deserve and are entitled to it!! Just google your county name, unemployment benefits.
I am so sorry honey - hugs to you!!!!

It's so tough out there now
"To Thine Own Self Be True" William Shakesphere
do listen to Most Evil and get that unemployment going. I've been trying to find a job for a couple of months now (banking and insurance are my experience) and it's a bear. 5 jobs open here. Only 5! And I am not a Pharmacy tech, copier repair technican, cannot drive truck. I'm so in trouble. I need a job so desperately.
Sounds as tho you have a back up plan-always a good thing. I'll just pray for both of us now.
just do a search for
just do a search for unemployment insurance for your county, or the employment development dept...you can file the first day you are out of work, but the 1st week you are not actually paid for. This happened to me in 9/07 & I still do not work (was in the mortgage industry) I got unemployment for 6 months, then got the extended benefits the president approved for another 3 months, so 9 months total. Now I'm staying home with my baby (I had just found out I was pregnant when I got laid off) and taking classes online to finish up my degree. Sometimes these things are a blessing in disguise to make you finish something up or take a break in life! It can get rough though with the economy the way it is
Just because you CAN give birth, doesn't mean you SHOULD
hi smurphy, I'll make room
hi smurphy, I'll make room in my boat b/c we're in it together. It's really been hard, I'd never been unemployed before, and starting over employmentwise was NOT what i had in mind.... I understand!
from my SD, the reason we're going through it all....:
o, btw, my dad and *northernsiren* are the best family a girl(and boy) could ever hope for. Thank you for helpping me through these hard times.
I SO feel for you
I have lost my job before (when I was 6 months pregnant with oldest BD) and was out of work for 11 months. So not fun! Apply for unemployment, for sure. So sorry for you!
