The pod people have taken over my son!
A bit of history. My son is scheduled to begin ALS (Airman Leadership School) on July 5. His roommate is getting out of the USAF on a medical retirement/disability. The kid wants to move into a one bedroom apartment when his roommate leaves.
Some informational set up. My kid was deployed when he was promoted to E5 and did not attend ALS prior to his promotion. Upon his demobilization back to his regular duty station he was advised that there two months’ worth of preparatory work and training he had to do prior to ALS. He had 4wks to get this done before starting ALS.
We spoke with the kid about 3 weeks ago in that conversation we asked him what his plan was to get his prep work for ALS complete, get moved, and to be ready for ALS. He gave us the "Don't worry mom and dad. I got this." He assured us he had it all worked out. My historical spider BS sensors were tingling like crazy but I did not dig deeper before we ended the conversation. I did close with "This stuff is important son. Don't screw this up. Love ya. Buhbye."
The pod people have taken him. So.... he got his 2mos worth of ALS prep work completed before he has to start ALS. He worked closely with his supervisor and was supported with time during the work day to work on his training and burned the midnight oil each night on an actual schedule to get his pre ALS work done.
He worked with his land lord and got a release from the lease based on his roommate’s retirement orders. This saves him quite a bit of money. He has his new lease signed and is picking up the keys on Friday and will move over the weekend. He hired a local moving service to take his big stuff and get his furniture set up in his new apartment. I asked about his utilities and he has already contacted everyone to shut off the services to his current house. What about the apartment one may ask..... he has that covered too. His rent includes power, water, etc......
Who is this kid and what the hell happened to my son. :O
The aliens have landed and my kid is now a pod person. There is no other reasonable explanation.

Great to get a nice status
Great to get a nice status report like that! My DS is also in the AF, was recently promoted to Staff Sergeant, has been selected for Honor Guard and will be cross training in electrical engineering this October.
He's also getting married next month to a very nice and down to earth young lady. Neither have kids from a previous relationship either! They are both starting out fresh which is a HUGE bonus IMHO!
Please thank him for his
Please thank him for his service for me. It sounds as if our son's were promited to E5 (Staff Sgt) at about the same time. Mine got his in February.
No wedding in my kids future. He is not even close to ready for that step. Though I am beginning to see that possibility somewhere in his future if he stays on the maturity and adulting path he has been on for the past several years.
How old is your son? Mine is 23 and will be 24 this summer.
Congratulations to your son and his bride on their pending nuptials. Comming into that with no baggage is a great thing.

My son had his five year service anniversary in April. They are on track and that is a good thing. As I understand it the earliest E-6 (Tech Sgt) can happen is 2yrs after the E-5 promotion.
They are both doing well and for this dad.... I could not be happier for them both.
