PROMISE TO MY KIDS: I will stalk you, freak out on you, lecture you, drive you crazy, be your worst nightmare, embarrass you in front of your friends, hunt you down like a bloodhound because I LOVE YOU! When you understand that, I will know you are a responsible adult. You will NEVER find someone who loves you, cares about you, & worries about you more than your PARENTS

Agreed!

I think so often though in stepfamilies that there is one household that enacts this "promise" (thus becoming the bad guys) and the other household that is more lenient so that they are the "favorite" parent. I see it alot on here and am afraid this will happen with my skids.

That is what keep us accountable and makes us into human adults.

Oh hell no!!! My mother did that to my wife and I and now we are dealing with an 18yo who has some of the same infuriating traits I had at 18.

Well, okay, what the hell!!! I do hope he has a large brood of kids who turn out "just like him". Then I can sit with a shit eating smirk on my face when he says "dad, how do I deal with these little shits. I was never this bad was I?".

"My son, let me tell you how much like this you were. You WERE this. Now my lively grand children. Come here and RagsPa will tell you what to do to really drive your parents crazy!"
