I hate babytalk

prozac_nation's picture

So SS8 has been on a huge baby talking kick for quite some time now. Everything is "dwink" and "twuck" and don't forget the "daaaaady daaaady daaaaaaadyyyy!!!" He sounds just like a freaking girl.
Baby talk is seriously one of my biggest pet peeves. I didn't know SO even cared about it since SDs constantly talk like infants and he does absolutely nothing about it . To my surprise SO actually got on his ass. :O
After SS's millionth "DAAAAADDDY!" SO finally said, "Look, you don't have to say 'daddy' every 5 seconds. You can just say 'hey', it's not like I don't know who you're talking to."
Finally! Maybe he'll start noticing it when SDs come over tomorrow too. Shouldn't get my hopes up though.

Don't you just want to just give him a pack of diapers and tell him that if he's going to talk like a baby he might as well dress like one too?

It'd be great it I could just stick a bottle in his mouth and he'd go to sleep. Wink
I'd rather not change anymore diapers than I have to though! I have plenty of those with my ACTUAL baby. lol

It's usually a cry for attention. Has ss been getting less attention lately? Is he upset about something in his life? Has something happened in his life that might be upsetting?

He's actually very well taken care of by his grandma [she has had custody of him since he was 1]. He has a different BM than SD's who is no where in the picture. I can't make her be there for him BUT I do my best to get him to come over whenever we do something fun and whenever the SD's spend the weekend. So it very well could be a cry for attention because his mother rejects him ,maybe?

My YSS did this. I just stopped answering or acknowledging anything in babytalk and when asked didnt you hear me i said no i only understand big kid talk sorry and went about my business. It worked.

I'd be interested to hear if your SO is as bothered by the girls using the babytalk. I'm curious if he is more bothered by his BOY doing it vs his "little girls" ya know?

And I agree with an above poster - tell them you can't understand them unless they use big kid words. And then go about your business.
