Beneficiary

I've been after DH for a while to check his beneficiary for his life insurance through work.

Last week he finally checked because I wanted to know so I could take out more on him depending how much he was leaving Puke.

Well, to my surprise he had Puke as the sole beneficiary. My worst fear was reality. He did change it but I was really hurt and mad that he was so careless. Keep in mind we have been married for over 5 years. Had anything happened to him I would have been royally screwed.

The last couple of weeks have been a whirlwind personally and just finally calming down enough I can post something. It’s not much really.

My mom called one morning from her doctor’s a few weeks ago saying he told her to go to the hospital. It wasn’t anything real serious but doctor thought she might need surgery. Turns out she was on IV antibiotics for a few days and was released. Spent all day that day in the hospital with her and every night after that until I was able to take her home.

Back to school

DH tells me last night that Puke is going back to regular school. Now this is not official yet. They will have to get transcripts from online school and then get signed up.

Puke should be starting her junior year but I don't think she's at that level. Evidently there's a school that works with kids who are behind in school work.

I say just get a GED and be done with it. She's been out of a classroom for about 3 years. Not sure she'll assimilate back into a structured environment.

Not my circus but curious how this is going to play out.

DH told me this weekend that he's planning on finishing everything he's been wanting to do in Puke's room. I didn't say anything but I was thinking "why".

He believes Puke when she says when she turns 18 she's going to come on her own for visits. Then he says that it's pretty much a guest room now. Yeah with a teenage girl decor. We don't need a guest room. I need a sewing room. We can put a twin bed in there if Puke does visit.

Back after a crazy few weeks

Been a busy time for me so now that things have settled down I thought I’d post a little update.

We hosted my mom’s 85th birthday party in our back yard after my sister called about a week and a half before the party to see if we would. I was happy to but had to make a mad dash to get everything ready.

We are adopting two cats tonight!

One is a manx mix who is so sweet. She had been living outside and homeless over the winter. She cuddled right up on my lap yesterday. The other picked DH by following him around and doing whatever she could to keep his attention.

We pick them up tonight. So excited!

The night before last DH’s phone was blowing up with texts after we went to bed. Pretty much just as I fell asleep. DH either didn’t hear his phone or ignored it. More than likely didn’t hear it since he is a heavy sleeper. He told me the next morning that Puke and her mom must have gotten into it because Puke was complaining about her mom. All DH said was that Puke chooses to live with her mom and he has offered for Puke to live with him, so not much he can do for her.
