Sorry, I don't have a lot of stepfamily problems, but I still love this site. So, when I do post something, it's usually unrelated to step issues.

I work for a small lawfirm. We have about 18 employees including attorneys and staff. Well, for some reason, in this lousy economy, the two head partners decided to build themselves a brand new building. The office moved here two weeks ago. It's beautiful, it's nice, but it's nowhere near the legal community in our city, i.e. the courthouse, downtown. Because we are no longer in a downtown highrise, everyone in the office is responsible for keeping the place clean, reloading toilet paper, etc. A huge issue lately has been making sure that the building is secure. The last one to leave needs to make sure the building is locked down. I can't tell you how many e-mails we have received about this one issue.

Only four people in our firm have a key to the building. Apparently, no one outside of those four people can be trusted. My boss has meetings today in another town 100 miles away. I come in to work. There are no cars in the parking lot. So, I sit. Other staff members come to work, and still there is no one to let us in the building, so we sit - and continue to sit. Finally, one of the attorneys arrives and lets us in - a half hour after the start of the work day.

I go to my office and there is a note on my desk to call my boss when I get in. So, I call. He asked if I got in okay, and I told him that we had to wait until someone arrived to let us in. He said, "I left the door unlocked so you could get in this morning." WTF???? He had come in before 6:00 a.m. to unlock the doors so we could get in. He then goes on to make me feel incredibly stupid; how I should have checked the door before causing the rest of the office to be late for work. So, this is on me???? After e-mail after e-mail about keeping the building secure, would you have checked the door if there were no cars in the parking lot? Besides, we are a wee bit isolated. I really do not want to be coming into an empty building that has been unlocked for several hours.

So, I got blasted for not reading his damn mind and knowing that he would be in to unlock the door in the morning.
