BM still thinking they get "Wife Benefits"???

After reading on here, I know it's not too unusual, but what is with these BMs thinking that exH should still be "taking care" of them?!

Hello! You are no longer the wife, he no longer has to support you emotionally, maybe financially, but only when a court says so. He's no longer there to provide you with medical insurance, unless a court says so. Working together for the benefit of your kid would be nice, but not if you are going to be psycho bitch and get pissed off because he no longer cares if you have a cold or any other bullshit you've made up!

Too harsh? SD looking for attention by proclaiming she's going to play a sport that I play.

Some background...last year SD12 (then 11) insisted that she wanted to play basketball. I play basketball and have since I was in the 6th grade. So I stupidly volunteered to teach her. What a mistake. We were out there 15 mins, her complaining or giving me attitude the WHOLE TIME. Anyways, after that I wised up and said I wasn't willing to waste my time if all she was going to do was complain. Didn't give a damn what SO thought. So she still insisted she was going to go out for the school team. I frequently look at the school website so I can give SO a heads up about things.

Confused....Why are you calling me??

So I'm not really complaining, I'm more confused.

Yesterday, SD12 texts me. She NEVER texts me unless I've texted her first. It went like this:

SD12: Hi Noidea, how are u?

Noidea: (isn't she in school? Are they allowed to use cell phones at school?) I'm good, how are you?

SD12: Not so good. (now I'm thinking she can't get a hold of SO and something is wrong. She's with BM this week, maybe she can't get a hold of her either. Either that, or it's one of those rare times she'll talk to me before SO)

Noidea: What's wrong?

Let me preface by saying, I'm sure I'm being petty, but really irritated right now. I have a SO that believes in sharing the cooking and cleaning. Usually we go off the "Whoever cooks, doesn't clean" rule, but there are still times where one of us with do both. Fairly even, at least to me.

However...

My SO can't seem to cook a meal without playing 20 questions! Argh! When I'm making dinner, I may give him a couple options, if he says he doesn't care, then he'll settle for what I cook. I even tell him this. He has to play 20 questions!

Too soon to hope?

I have definitely had my trials with SD12 in the past. I can handle the tween attitude and drama, I had a large dose of it myself. Happy my mom let me keep my teeth. Smile SO has had SD12 for just about 3 weeks now. He had her his normal week, then his family had a camping trip so she went back to BM for 3 days, then him for 11 days.

Enabling MIL, how to handle it.

Does anyone have thoughts or things they have done when dealing with a MIL who enables SD12? She does this with all of her GKs, but I would like it to stop with SD12. Even my SO would like it to stop. I told him the other day she would need to start learning not to enable, because otherwise she won't be watching OUR kids.

Family Camping Trip - What should be expected of me?

We are leaving tomorrow with SD12 to go on SO's family camping trip. A number of his family members are meeting and camping out there. SO and I do not live together, what do you think is fair for what I cover in terms of cost? Food, gas? Am I being too bitchy to only want to cover 1/3 of the food and gas costs?

The other part of setting up camp is equal and I really hope that SO makes SD12 help out more this year. Last year she did nothing to set up or break down camp. She's 12, why should she get to sit on her butt in the car playing games while we work?

Back to School Costs

How does everyone handle the back to school costs?

Last year SO took SD12 out, bought her clothes, backpack, new shoes, and all materials. Looks like he will be buying them again this year, yet BM gets pissed off when he doesn't cover half the yearbook ($25). Just curious what everyone else does...
