Family matters

So we took SD to the pumpkin patch yesterday. Had a good day overall. She had a really good time. On the way home DH gets a call from his grandmother letting him know they were in town and wanted to see SD until 6:30. So we end up at his aunt's house. I really liked his family at first but now its become a chore to spend time with them. But since DH asked me to stay and eat dinner, I went ahead. As soon as DH steps out the door to go drop SD off at BM's workplace, they start badmouthing BM. I have learnt from dealing with his family, they are the world's worst for badmouthing.

So DH gets SD every Wednesday, usually from 9-5. Well the last few weeks the BM has been changing the time she wants SD brought to her. Sometimes 6pm, sometimes 8pm...It tends to allow DH more time with SD which is good but annoying. It's hard to plan anything on the days he has her because BM tells him like an hour before we usually take her back that he can have her for X amount of time longer. So I politely asked that she give us more advance notice, say like when he picks her up that morning, so that we can plan things.

Annoyed

So the BM let SD go to a birthday party this weekend for her 3 yr old cousin on DH side of family. The BM was on this organic kick (or so made it out to be) and would get all over my fiance's butt about feeding SD anything she didn't approve of. Wanted us to use certain eggs, fruits, etc. she completely freaked out when DH had told her I had made mashed potatoes and gravy and we gave some to SD. Since the gravy was made from the powder mix from the store it wasn't organic and went on a rant on how he didn't care about te future of SD.

So after work yesterday, I went home and made dinner like usual. DH came home and during dinner we were discussing the wedding. We are having engagement pictures done today (should be interesting) and we have the SD. He asked me if I would feel awkward if he wanted some pics of just me and her. Now I have been lucky in the fact that I have been involved since SD was born. She is 13 months now and literally stays under my feet when she stays with us. I call her cuddle bear and just adore that little girl. And she is extremely fond of me.
