Kids just seep, don't they?
FSD3 got a nasty cold that resulted in pinkeye. EWWW!
Now that I've got that childish moment of my own out of the way, I find myself feeling guilty that I react to the child's illness with revulsion. I think I do that because I have a preternatural fear of contracting rashes, parasites, or anything otherwise itchy from other people and I think I do it because. Well. Kids ARE gross. ALL kids are gross. *I* was gross as a kid and MY children will be gross until they reach an age when they aren't plague monkeys combined with poor hygiene choices.
I also wonder if I feel only revulsion because I haven't seen FSD3 since before she got sick. She apparently came down with it bad while with BM and BM -- in typical fashion for the parent without money or initiative or her own healthcare -- just waited it out until it was FDH's time, so that HE could take her to the doctor. Upon discovering pinkeye, FDH wisely warned me to keep my distances because that stuff is CATCHING.
But I think I hurt his feelings tonight by telling him to wash his bed sheets before I come over to stay the night again. I know for a fact he co-sleeps with FSD3 whenever she's very ill, so I *know* her head has been where mine usually goes whenever I stay the night. And I know that FDH's lousy coin-operated apartment laundry is a place he dreads going, so he typically avoids washing his ONE set of sheets until they're absolutely un-sleep-worthy.
Even so, when I said, "Make sure you get them washed before I come over," and he said, "Oh..." I felt kind of bad. Like I was judging him just because his kid is seeping pinkeye all over what I sometimes sleep on. Like I'd be a bad parent myself because I fixate on the gross stuff.
*sigh* I'll make it up to him with brand new sheets.

Did you know pink eye can
Did you know pink eye can actually be an allergy? When we began to paint our entire house it seemed I constantly had pink eye! I was terrified! I started reading about it and found out it could actiually be an allergy!!! You can find natural eye drops for pink eye at the health food store and they are wonderful! Also benadryl helps. I never get pinkeye except when we paint...and the first time it happened I ran to the doctor which gave me drops that cost a bundle, not to mention the eye doctor bill. Once I started taking benadryl and/or the natural eye drops I never had a problem again.
PS our kiddo slept with us
PS our kiddo slept with us for years and never got it...
I totally agree with you. As
I totally agree with you. As a SM and BM, illnesses that come from children are gross. They wipe their nose on everything, including me and spread germs all around. I do get more annoyed with SS comes here sick and doesn't get sick here bc I personally think a sick child should stay put. If he was sick at his moms, he should stay at his moms! The last time SS came here sick, DS1 was still sick from the last illness that SS brought here so I told DH to keep them away. (SS was only here for a evening dinner visit). DH put SS in OUR bed and I was very upset and told him he better wash the sheets and he was almost disgusted with me for me being so upset. But really, theres no reason for a sick child to be bounce from house to house and he has his own bed, why was he in mine?!
